Weiner is only one more in a long line of pols who have disgraced themselves and their offices (the beat goes on). The amazing thing is that despite their transgressions, they often get re-elected! One well known example is Wilbur Mills, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee:

It is the nature of man and power. That is why we have to have a free press—to expose the corruption, and we need judges who rule by the Constitution, not by the bribe in the back room. This arbitrary “justice” is a crock.
Our judges are not held accountable for when they defy their oath of office.
