House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, are calling for an investigation into Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) over the series of sexually explicit conservations and lewd photos he exchanged with a half-dozen women during the last several years.
“I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation; for Anthony’s wife, Huma, his family, his staff and his constituents,” Pelosi said in a statement released on Monday night.
“I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred.”
Israel added: “Congressman Anthony Weiner engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate behavior that embarrassed himself, his family, and the House. Ultimately, Anthony and his constituents will make a judgment about his future .
“To remove all remaining doubt about this situation, I agree with Leader Pelosi’s request that the House Ethics Committee use its authority to begin an investigation.”
The calls by Pelosi and Israel for an ethics investigation dramatically raise the political stakes for Weiner. While he stated repeatedly during an emotional press conference on Monday that he had broken no laws nor violated House ethics rules during his interaction with the women, a probe by the House Ethics Committee could find differently.
And it also could provide Pelosi and other Democratic leaders with political cover to call on Weiner to step down. So far, none of his Democratic colleagues have called on him to give up the seat that he first won in 1998.
“I am deeply regretting what I have done, and I am not resigning,” the New York Democrat told reporters on Monday afternoon. “I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused Huma, my wife, and my family.”

This is the same Ethics Committee that gave Charlie Rangel an air kiss for stealing money from the American people by repeatedly faiing to report taxable income and for illegally using government subsidized housing.

In other words Pelosi already knows that no violation of House rules occurred, but she wants to give PERVERT Anthony Weiner a clean bill of health.
I’ll bet he’s quaking in his boots over this call for an investigation by the botox queen. How long have they been investigating Maxine Waters? I think it must be a couple of years. And I don’t see the reps doing it either since they took over.
We desperately need 535 new lawmakers. And a new White Hut crew.
The only thing that will straighten out this mob is term limits and a balanced budget amendment.
The Committee membership is evenly split even though the GOP holds the Chairmanship so nothing gets done unless there is bipartisan cooperation.
