Two points.

1. Revere never said the British were coming, because the vast majority of the colony thought themselves as British.

He either said, “The Red coats are coming” or “The Regulars are coming.”

2. Assuming that he did tell the British anything, it wouldn’t have been something they weren’t aware of, in terms of probability. The colonies were revolting by this period. It’s not as though Revere gave up anything that wasn’t already known. It’d be like an Iraqi mentioning that there are insurgents in the next town over.

I know, anal. It was just bugging me.

there were even smug anti-palin freepers who joined in. Remember, what we learn in high school history is NOT ALWAYS TRUE. You know a lot of little details are missing

And because the classroom spelling bit was a last-minute addition, aides who would have foreseen the everlasting damage of their boss inexplicably adding a mistake to a student’s work did not know what the placard said. Quayle subsequently forbade them from explaining the error to the media, for fear of embarrassing the teacher.

This, if true, says more about Dan Quayle, than the media ever has.

This story is a great lesson in “gaffe-ology” — worth the read for sure, and not just for the Palin-Revere story.

If the media were interviewing Palin in a downpour and she stated that it was raining, the media would deny that and claim she was an idiot. They would find a weatherman/scientist to dispute that what was falling was rain.
They (media, liberals,America haters etc.)hate her because she actually calls them out for the nonsense they speak and represent. And because if she runs for President with a decent VP choice she will destroy obama........

The British were “put on notice” that the colonists were ready and willing to fight. They were warned. Too bad they didn’t listen and leave peacefully.

She is smarter than every person in every media in America... and they now know it... and they hate her even more. They are really going to hate her when she crushes them and their propaganda machine.

Instructive.

Sarah Palin should stop answering reporter's questions because it makes THEM "look" stupid (removes all doubt).

....This time the mistake for Palin, who used to be accused of dodging reporters' questions, was bothering to answer such an amateur media gotcha question in a noisy, moving crowd. Better would have been a simple dismissive and cheery, "You're kidding, right?" Such are the ongoing lessons for primary candidates. Which she isn't now, of course....

All this answering of questions makes reporters do research. What a pain! Instead they're running off half-cocked, making it necessary to clean up in news aisle one.

This is just like Tine Fey’s “I can see Russia from my house” bit on SNL, doesn’t matter that Palin never said that and her actual statement of Russia being visible from Alaska is 100% correct. Palin can’t overcome her enemies stupidity sometimes and the MSM play right along.

The Paul Revere capture site is actually part of the Minuteman national park running through Concord, Lincoln and Lexington. There is a 5 miles bike/hiking trail that runs through there that I take quite often (it is located only a few miles from where I work and live).

Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the area.

A key point about this brouhaha that I believe was mentioned before but deserves to be repeated:

At the time of Paul Revere's ride, we were still over a year from the Declaration of Independence. Thus we were still British subjects at the time. So whether or not one is referring to the capture, it is technically accurate to state that Paul Revere was warning the British that the "Redcoats" or "Army Regulars" were coming because we were all British subjects at the time.

This whole episode is a perfect example of Palin’s one glaring “weakness” (IMHO). And that is that she is simply horrible at trying to bluff her way through things she really isn’t that interested in. Don’t get me wrong, she is very interested in the founding of this country, but Paul Revere’s ride, while dramatic in and of itself, was just a bit part of the big picture and I’m sure not near to top of her importance list. Thus, she attempted to express everything she knows about it in one sentence, and yes, to me anyway, it definitely was a little corkscrewed, even if technically, sorta, accurate. But I still love her work ethic and integrity and will support her regardless of what she chooses to do.
