You may have heard recently something about that Sarah Palin telling a reporter that Paul Revere warned the British on his famous rousing revolutionary ride.
Now, that so many Americans have wallowed in their smug confirmation that Palin is an idiot unqualified for anything but repeating sixth-grade history, how far, wide and fast do you think the contradictory news will spread that the former governor of Alaska was indeed correct?
That the Republican non-candidate, in fact, knew more about the actual facts of Revere's midnight ride than all those idiots unknowingly revealing their own ignorance by laughing at her faux faux pas? How secretly embarrassing this must be, to be forced to face that you know less than such a reputed dummy.
As it happens, though, such phenomena are regular occurrences in American politics, reminding consumers of news to be wary when some fresh story seems to fit contemporary assumptions so absolutely perfectly.
The well-known fable is Revere's late-night ride to warn fellow revolutionaries that....
...the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening's events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American revolution's inevitable victory.
Palin knew this. The on-scene reporters did not and ran off like Revere to alert the world to Palin's latest mis-speak, which wasn't.

If you really want to understand your history, you also need to see how they saw themselves and their world.
apparently, these days, we can call others for being morons and ignorant on any subject, because one just googled it a few seconds ago. I didn’t know the history either, but once I googled it and read a few secs on it, I can now call someone else who know something about it a moron.
That would be “Breed”s” Hill and according to the Lexington Historical Society, Sarah was correct in her retelling of the tale. He did not set out to warn the British (they were all British subjects at the time) but warn them, in deed, he did, along with everyone else in the countryside.
I remember Meg Mccain called Palin a moron for not knowing what blue blood means, because Palin just used it and Meg Mccain just googled a few seconds ago. Even after reading what blue blood mean on the internet, Meg still GOT IT WRONG
I have called no one any names. But the PDSer's are certainly busy in that respect.
Sarah Palin should stop answering reporter's questions because it makes THEM "look" stupid (removes all doubt).
....This time the mistake for Palin, who used to be accused of dodging reporters' questions, was bothering to answer such an amateur media gotcha question in a noisy, moving crowd. Better would have been a simple dismissive and cheery, "You're kidding, right?" Such are the ongoing lessons for primary candidates. Which she isn't now, of course....
All this answering of questions makes reporters do research. What a pain! Instead they're running off half-cocked, making it necessary to clean up in news aisle one.
Not talking about you, I’m talking about the PDSers
We certainly have enough of those.
now they’re complaining Palin is answering too much question and weighing in on too many policy issues
I’m a little angry at some Freepers who have been saying that not only was Sarah wrong in what she said but that she said it in a mangled way. So, innocent me, listening to talk radio this morning, while ironing my husband’s shirts, and on comes Sarah in her original quotes. Not only does she sound grounded, smart and knowledgeable, she says what she says in a very clear fashion.
So what’s going on here? A bunch of FR Sarah haters have been lying to those of us who missed her comments on the day she said them? Now I can’t trust Free Republic? I can understand not liking her and not wanting her to run. But to deliberately distort the truth is something else.
Maybe I need to go over to Lucianne.com. (And, I know, I know, don’t let the door hit me on the way out, lol!)
It makes my day to watch as the worm turns.
This is just like Tine Fey’s “I can see Russia from my house” bit on SNL, doesn’t matter that Palin never said that and her actual statement of Russia being visible from Alaska is 100% correct. Palin can’t overcome her enemies stupidity sometimes and the MSM play right along.
indeed, this shows it’s starting to dawn on the smarter ones that: “Sarah is coming and hell’s coming with her” (for the liars and cheats and scoundrels in DC)
No, did not google Paul, he is covered in detail in Virginia history books, also, only googled to get the link to the Longfellow poem, donot recall the number of english classes it was required reading in.

perhaps you should try Massachusetts history since it happened here and Paul Revere was not in Virginia.
