You know how Sarah Palin said Paul Revere warned the British? Well, he did. Now, who looks stupid?

Thanks, I will try. I only get upset because they misrepresent the truth. I have no trouble with people supporting other candidates, it’s fun to read the different opinions. But this time they are telling me not to believe my lying ears. But I have 20-20 hearing!!!!

Quite so.

Instead of elevating their candidate they must cut down the other. It reminds me of the way the Left works to “lower the bar” or “level the playing field” — making mediocre the bar from which you measure — no place for excellence is found in that way of thinking.

Then too there’s the tried and true method of blaming your opponents of what you’re guilty of, they really love that one — accusations that make you run in circles, trying to set things right, while they appear “elevated” above the fray (as described by the msm and fans).

Sarah Palin doesn’t let them run her off course.

I’ll never forget stupid Mika and distinctly creepy Joe mocking Sarah for calling George Washington her favorite founding father. My husband and I looked at each other: but, but, but! He’s our favorite, too!

PDS goes both ways, as did BDS. I have a Palin bumper sticker, but I don’t have an altar to her in my house. Worshiping a human is as deranged as demonizing one.

Thank you, I've been struggling to find the words to express what you have here. I too like Gov. Palin, and would probably vote for her in the Primaries, (not to mention the general election obviously) if here in Maryland such a vote would carry any weight.

The cult of personality surrounding her here on FR is, ironically, an effective dampener on any enthusiasm I may feel for her though. Dare to offer any reasoned criticism, however constructive it may be, and one is labeled a PDSer, and shunned quicker than a rebellious member of the JW church.

These people are so quick to assume that Palin is wrong and stupid it really makes it easy for Palin!

I'm not sure I would say it makes it easy. America (nowadays) isn't too smart. I mean, look who we elected this past Presidential election. A random guy from Illinois. Palin always having a negative perception isn't going to help her.

So Behar stating about it being a childerns book will just be believed by the idiot American. Even though CS Lewis has written some amazing masterpieces (Mere Christianity, Screwtape letters, Etc, Etc).

I wonder - is her strategy to find a small, significant fact that is not known to most Columbia journalism grads - play that up and stand back to watch the whole thing blow up in their faces? Maybe that is what rope-a-dope means; I never understood what that meant.

She definitely has a mischievious streak; the look on her face on Fox Sunday when she denied upstaging Mitt Romney was priceless.

And remember, the day before she and her family visited the Paul Revere house in Boston. She was simply relating the tale of the midnight ride with the Revere perspective that she surely heard as part of the tour.

Extra credit: why did Revere make it a point to warn the British?

Seriously, I think what you are missing in this “cult of personality” thing is that Sarah Palin actually HAS a personality. That it is a very charismatic, dynamic personality is very obvious to some, not so much for others. She blows everyone off the stage - the way a great star of film blows the other actors off the screen. I’m very attuned to this because I’m in theatre - I enjoy big personalities. That’s why Mitt Romney turns me off. He’s small, he’s shrinking, he’s unappealing. Perfectly OK as the host of The Price is Right not the presidency.

Bachmann goes to NH and confuses their Concord with the one of these events in MA. Media calls her on it and she does a mea culpa. Palin goes to Boston and the media think they've done much the same to her. But the media ends up doing the mea culpa. My conclusion: both Bachmann and Palin are smarter than the media!

I bet many of the media would make the same mistake Bachmann made, but they're never quized on their knowledge of such trivia. On non-trivial things she is far more knowledgeable. Not only did none of the media know the details of what Revere actually did, but it took far longer for them to learn the truth than it took for them to smear their ignorance around the globe. Given the way that story has usually been told I suspect many of us Freepers didn't know the full story. I didn't, yet I've walked Boston's Freedom trail, which IIRC includes Revere's house, and have been to the site of the famous bridge (now a modern replacement) of the night's climax. But our side, when Palin's words failed to match our memories, double checked our memories. And embraced the truth; whereas the liberal 'experts' are still trying to wriggle out its grasp. Thanks Sarah, for showing me that Paul Revere was even cooler than I'd thought!

There are no second chances after the primary. The primary is for the express purpose of stating your case as to who you see as beating the pants off Obama in the general election. It is the time for the candidates to be "vetted." Perhaps the "cult of personality" that you see on FR is more a campaign to discount all the negative crap being thrown at her and people who support her positions.

“Dare to offer any reasoned criticism...”

“Reasoned” is the pivotal word. Castigating her for giving a reasonable AND accurate answer to a reporters question is not “reasoned”.

An argument could be made that her delivery was a bit shaky but the fact that her response was indeed factual is beyond “reasonable” contention.

My local Fox News station this morning reported that Palin “gaffed” and then went on to read the negative posts to their facebook page calling Palin an idiot. I couldn't fire off a e-mail fast enough. I won’t be watching them anymore.

Impossible to listen to it once and come up with all those supposed inaccuracies and stumblings. I listened to it once and only heard a centered, articulate response; I’d have to listen to it several times over to hear all the pauses. By the way, did you sit with the transcript on your lap while you listened to it to know it was accurate?

The Divine Sarah is on her perch and I’ll leave it to you to google where this designation originated. Has nothing to do with religion or worship.

I’m a little angry at some Freepers who have been saying that not only was Sarah wrong in what she said but that she said it in a mangled way. So, innocent me, listening to talk radio this morning, while ironing my husband’s shirts, and on comes Sarah in her original quotes. Not only does she sound grounded, smart and knowledgeable, she says what she says in a very clear fashion.

And well you should be angry. As I'm sure you know, posting on FR doesn't make one a Conservative.

So what’s going on here? A bunch of FR Sarah haters have been lying to those of us who missed her comments on the day she said them? Now I can’t trust Free Republic? I can understand not liking her and not wanting her to run. But to deliberately distort the truth is something else.

Actually, as I read through the threads on Gov. Palin, it is a relatively small group of anti-Palin posters who are doing what you describe. Their approaches vary from "concern-trolls", all the way through nitpicking and lying, followed by dodging, weaving, and comments that basically state "I didn't say that, you can't prove it, neener, neener, neener!". These folks come alive for Palin posts, and show up like clockwork. I usually chuckle at their really quite pitiful efforts.

Can you trust FR? of course.

Can you trust some FR posters, not ever.

Maybe I need to go over to Lucianne.com. (And, I know, I know, don’t let the door hit me on the way out, lol!)

I'll withhold comment on that one, having lived through the Lucianne.com era, and a few others as well.

I am personally not sure yet if Gov. Palin is the best candidate for the Presidency, but if someone is going to post anti-Palin comments on FR, they are going to have to be factual, documented arguments. Otherwise, I just add them to my list of people to disregard.

Have a good week MM.

Thank you Colonel for your kind, logical response. You are, of course, right, but they really do act like flying monkeys, don’t they? Sometimes they seem to crowd out the more reasoned voices.

My major problem with Lucianne.com is that she only has about 12 posters and pulls the whole post down if it gets over 15! Yeah, I missed that early bruhaha. You have a good week, too.

Quite true. I'm not sure if Mr Rogers is saying she is at fault for giving a factual answer. I don't know, I can't read minds.

For me though, this is a point I've raised before about the good Governor and been castigated for it, to whit: While she is typically, if not always technically "right" about something she says, her "delivery" seems to need some work. It seems half the anti-Palin criticism from the media (and here on FR) is due to some perceived mistake on her part, largely influenced by a vague Twitter posting or, as in this case, a convoluted answer to a "gotcha" question.

That is, if Mr Rogers' transcript above is an accurate transcript of her answer, there is no way anyone can call that a "clear" answer. It's not clear to me; I guess this may give the more rabid Palin supporter easy material to castigate me ("If it's not clear to you, that only proves you're an idiot", or some such). But that only proves my point should anyone engage in such ad hominem: Any criticism, and one is shunned quicker than an Amish that uses electricity.

Don’t do it. There are some anti-Palin trolls here at FR but FR is mainly pro-Palin. FR is Palin country.
