After interviewing Sarah Palin, Chris Wallace talked about her with his panel of guests and revealed that he was very impressed with her appearance. Unlike previous times when he interviewed her, Wallace noticed this wasnt just you betcha she was pretty sharp on the issues.
Wallace was eager to see if anyone else agreed with his review of Palins interview:
I thought she was a boffo performance today. It was the first time that I ever saw her and thought this woman is a serious if she decides to run candidate for President. And a serious possibility to be President.

About her voice: if you listen to her speeches and her interviews on tv, her voice is well-modulated. It is when she gets out on the campaign trail and speaks over a crowd (rather than under it), her voice gets high and thin. That can be fixed - if she wants it fixed. She marches to her own drummer that gal!
Personally, as someone who remembers the infamous
Hillary-harangue audio that Sean Hannity sadistically plays for those of us trapped in our cars at 5pm, Palin’s voice is a model of beauty and clarity.
Actually some people have asked me if I was the Babster herself - as if she would deign to come down from Mount Olympus to speak to the filthy hordes here on FR, lol! No, Miss Marmelstein came about a long time ago and I stick with the moniker. It’s a great song, by the way. I heard her sing it in concert in 2004. I try not to let my conservative politics ever interfere with my love of music and theatre.
I’m amazed at how many freepers do not remember the bashing Reagan took for his - as you say - off the cuff remarks and his somewhat stumbling press conferences. Of course we didn’t have the internet then so it was mild in comparison to what Sarah gets but, boy, I remember the stinging criticism! People either have very short memories - or more likely - were too young to remember the 80s.
Love The Sopranos. Uncle Junior probably said it; he always got the best - and most media-savvy - dialogue.
you are exactly right. It’s not like Reagan was glib and entertaining like Dennis Miller or even Joe Biden. Yes exactly his press conferences were not scolarly or even very quoteable discouses. In some ways i have given President Zero a pass on press conferences because there is so much a president is resposible for and some of the questions are far removed from the ostensible topic at hand. but then he has been so awful otherwise, it all fits a pattern of sedition, treason, moral cowardice, lying etc. “The police acted stupidly” what a moron we have.
Yes, Reagan’s press conferences were a mess! I used to get tense during them because I knew the creep Sam Donaldson was out there gloating over the mistakes. So I’m confused when obviously older and smarter people come here and bash Sarah for her off-the-cuff remarks. We need some institutional memories around here!!! Biden and Obama and Al Gore make horrible gaffes - they are veritable gaffe magnets! The original mean girl, Maureen Dowd, always went after George Bush the Elder’s verbal mistakes. But, I guess, being guys, they are forgiven their misdeeds.
Of course Reagan would never have gotten into the whole Skippy/police thing. He was much, much smarter than that. Obama’s a boob.
At first I thought she might have been a little hoarse.
I am from Wisconsin and people out here on the east coast have referred to my accent as a twang.
The press also called Ike’s presidency *lackluster* and like you stated, he was always on the golf course..(wonder what his golfing stats are compared to Obama.) The media was somewhat muted because of WW2 but they still complained about IKE. The democrats tried to get Ike to run as a democrat. No scandels in his presidency so they invented one with whispers about a female driver he had in the army...(he must have had an affair with her, whisper whisper.)
Your PDS drivel has been duly ignored.
Cheers!
Rubio is not a natural born citizen. How can anyone here forget that????
Leading with the "she's not very bright" theme is an obvious tell.
Hey phantom, what's your degree in? What was your GPA? Where did you get your degree?
(Did you have to pay your own way through like she did?)
Cheers!
Yes, he warned the British, while he was their captive.
Maybe you forgot she had just been touring some of the historical landmarks...and that what most people learn in "history' is CONSIDERABLY dumbed down.
Cheers!
I hear he had a brother in Shreveport who was honest. Didn’t get along with Huey. Can’t remember his first name.
I just watched which set of trolls was off to the races with their predetermined talking points.
Cheers!
No one person in ten thousand knows anything about Paul Revere’s ride except from Longfellow’s poem—and that is all wrong. He was caught, and he did brag to the regulars that the Colonials were waiting for them. A great poem. Used to know it by heart. Once tested my son and daughter when they were in the 4th and 3rd grade by having them memorize the poem. They did it in half an hour. Anyway, back to the Regulars. They didn’t believe him, and the march continued. They didn’t know they were walking into a hornet’s nest. It would have been like Custer’s last stand if reinforcements had not come up from Boston and even then they had no choice but to retreat.
That’s my memory of the time! My husband - as a child - visited Gettysburg and actually saw Ike on his farm - at the tee! Ike waved at him. Wow!
Republicans have always had a hard time with the media. Nothing new.
