Well it was killed, but the paramedics brought it back, and it’s now resting comfortably and awaiting surgery by its owner. Prognosis is excellent.

Uh, why did your uncle have a bag of live snapping turtles? They keep better than dead ones.

How kind of you to provide the surgical supplies, Mr. B!
To: Bob
Make up your mind, man. Was it killed or wounded? Post-mortem wound

I’ve picked up from similar convos between FReepers that it has to do with feeding the turtles in captivity a while to adjust for taste/texture, like corn-feeding cattle for a few weeks before slaughter.
Dunno if it’s true. Never tried it.

An obvious case of a reptile dysfunction.
Too bad the heroes didn’t get to finish their reports before they learned their mistake:
“Said reptile advanced menacingly, hissed, and bared its teeth. It then charged toward me at a high rate of advance. Officer Fife and I drew our sidearms and discharged 30 rounds. Observing that the reptile had not gone down, we re-loaded and discharged 30 more. I then applied my tazer until it stopped moving and assumed a rigid position.”

“The property owner told police that the gator was meant to keep people off his property, Gentry said. Officers told him a no-trespassing sign would have been wiser.”
Ahh, so the police would have ignored the hypothetical “No trespassing” sign only to shoot at another lawn ornament. Makes perfect sense. I wonder what prompted them to invade his back yard originally. Clearly they weren’t in pursuit of a criminal nor did they have a warrant. Therefore, they were trespassing.
Isn’t it nice that the officers set such a good example of abiding the laws concerning private property?
