Trump: Would Consider Independent Run
Thursday, 02 Jun 2011 05:51 AM

By Hiram Reisner

Real estate mogul Donald Trump, who has already flirted with a run for the GOP nomination in 2012, says he would still consider running as an independent if he did not believe the Republican field was strong enough to beat President Barack Obama. Trump also said on Fox News Wednesday that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is underrated.

“No, I'm not out at all. I mean, if I — and look, I'm not a Ross Perot who goes in and then decides to go out. I never went in. You understand that, OK? I've never said that I was running. I said I was considering it, and seriously considering it,” Trump told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. “And then I’ve watched these terrible mistakes made by the Republican Party. And I say — I use the word it’s a death wish.”

Trump was referring to House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s release of the GOP budget plan that includes Medicare reform and noted the timing of the proposal was not good.

“I watched the terrible mistakes by the Republican Party — and in particular, when I look at, you know, Paul Ryan's timing of this horrible situation,” he said. “I can tell you that these Democrats are laughing all the way to the bank. They think they're going to end up taking over the House over it. And they certainly give Obama a big boost.

The more Trump speaks the more I think he's really working to re-elect Obama. I still can't figure out why Palin asked to meet with him other than publicity. I can't believe she agrees with what he said about Ryan and she's said in the past 3rd party is not the way to go.

SHE DIDN'T, SO WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?

If Trump does that, it will PROVE he’s on Obama’s side.

So Trump was in the tank for 0bama all along. He knows damn well that a 3rd party run will guarantee and 0bama win.

Trump has a bad temper and doesn't take criticism well—look how he had it out with that oinker lib Rosie O'Donnell.

He wants to pay back RINO pundits who laughed at him by throwing the race to Obama.

So just like last Nov., elitist country club talking head RINOs like Krauthammer,Rove and Will—who loathe the Tea Party for putting America ahead of their ego stroking, lucrative and incestuous relationships with the DC/NYC/LA Axis of Evil liberal ruling class—may again cost us some important elections—especially the one for the White House.

LOL. It’s a weirdly schizoid sentence structure which could be interpreted in two very different ways.

Example: “I can’t believe Palin agrees with driving a concrete Kill-dozer through Washington DC”

You've been taking gratuitous, left-handed swipes at Sarah Palin for too long a time, but now you're trying to assign falsehoods to her.

I watched Greta's interview en total.

Trump made clear that the only thing he said Sarah praised him for was his talk about China!

Sarah Palin has praised Paul Ryan's plan. Too bad that Trump doesn't like it. To each his own.

Sarah Palin might decide she's not wedded to Ryan's plan, but she's not taken issue with it thus far.

If, like Trump said, she asked him about an Independent run, so what? Wouldn't that be in her interest to know whether he plans such a run?

He went onto state that he would only consider such a run, IF the Republicans nominated a *stiff*....read [loser].

He wouldn't mount a campaign against SARAH PALIN!

FYI: Trump will never run. He can't trust anyone or any consortium to run his business empire. Sheeeesh.

he would drain away 20% of the vote and then become Obama’s ambassador to Trinidad or Jamaica in a second term.

The ONLY and I mean ONLY thing conservative about Trump is that he is a Capitalist.

And if he were to run 3rd Party against a Tea Party candidate aka conservative,Krauthammer,Rove and Will would reverse course and endorse him.

Can you provide us with a source where Palin said she agreed with Trump's assessment of Paul Ryan's plan? PLEASE DO NOT MAKE STATEMENTS THAT YOU CANNOT SUBSTANTIATE!!! Now, if you have a source, give it to us; please and thank you.

Paul Ryan's timing of this horrible situation,” he said. “I can tell you that these Democrats are laughing all the way to the bank. They think they're going to end up taking over the House over it. And they certainly give Obama a big boost.

Now, there is some truth to what he said there. The Dems are salivating over what they call "Ryan's Kill Medicare Proposal". They say that is how the Dem got elected in the NY-26 special election the other day. They are truly going to fear monger this to their advantage. As another FReeper said yesterday: "THE GOP IS LOSING THE MESSAGE WAR RIGHT NOW." Trump was right; the GOP should have challenged Obama to come up with a Budget and then tear the hell out of it.

How can we combat this? Mark Twain said: "A lie will travel half way around the world before the truth get's it's shoes on."

I think he would peel off more Dem-leaning moderates - the kind that sit home at night watching “reality” television.
