Krauthammer's Allegiance To Useless Information

I’m reminded of the movie The Bridge over the River Kwai. In the movie a British Colonel being held prisoner in Thailand by the Japanese leads his fellow POWs in the construction of a bridge for the enemy. Even though he knows that this is helping the Japanese war effort, his fondness for his accomplishment almost causes him to sabotage a commando raid to destroy the bridge.

RINOs and CINOs (conservatives in name only) like Krauthammer will let you kick the bridge, paint the bridge, and even spray graffiti on the bridge, but don’t ever come calling with the intention of placing plastic explosives around the main supports; he’ll calmly explain that you just don’t understand “bridge policy.”

CINO’s are Catholics in Name Only. You're either a conservative or you're not.

It’s easy to fight the libs, they’re right in your face. Much tougher to defend against friendly fire from CINOs.

Methinks that conservatives who fell for Krauthammer were naive indeed.

I have no beef with Sarah Palin, in fact I think quite highly of the woman. But I think its a little ridiculous that any comment critical of her is met with a sort of scorched earth policy aimed at the person making the comment. I happen to like Sara but I think Charles is a bright man and undeserving of this editorial and the comments that follow.

He’s a big boy. I’m sure he’ll handle the scorching with aplomb.

He’s Washington elite who takes the conservative position for the talks. He is a lib just like the rest of them. Very now and then he throws out a good nugget for the base. But he is closer to Romney then he is Palin.

Charles performs conservatism, he had two choices early on and picked the winner. But he’s not a true believer. Conservatives like him think that Washington just needs a trim, not a meat cleaver.

Quite often when I watch the talking heads and their criticism of those whom they do not consider to be as cerebral as themselves, I am reminded of an ad that used to run on TV.

I can't remember what they were selling, but the ad consisted of three guys eating in a restaurant. Near them were two tables, each occupied by a single diner.

The diner at one of the tables choked on his food. He was really in serious danger of choking to death.

The three geniuses were trying to decide what to do about it. One of them suggested hitting him on the back, one suggested the Heimlich maneuver and the third had some other suggestion.

All the while the guy choking was getting in worse shape.

The diner at the third table, without saying a word, got up, walked over to the stricken diner and performed the Heimlich on him and then calmly returned to his table and resumed eating his meal.

The three cerebral types were still arguing over the correct method.

What we need in the White House is a person who has the common sense to take the right action and to do so promptly. Leave the debating of the finer points to the Krauthammers, George Will and the like.

Eliminating every level of bureacracy will bring forth legions of government employees to do battle with any politician attempting to cut the size of government, and in every battle they will be served by elitists like Krauthammer who will argue that it would be better to just change… policy.

Not to mentions the fact that a huge portion of federal employees are union members and the unions give hundreds of millions of dollars to Rats.

Kind of beside the point, don’t you think? What I’m talking about has nothing to do with Krauthammer. Since when did no criticism of Sarah Palin become the litmus test for conservative credentials?

I agree with you that CK is a very bright man, but I also think his thinking is incorrigably polluted by a slavish devotion to the club of entrenched RINOs. I think exactly the same about Rove. And commenting as he does/they do from that standpoint, he is a voice that IMO inflicts damage to the conservative cause. At some point one has to consider a very simple proposition: Are we better off if this person just keeps their freekin’ mouth shut? And my answer in the case of CK & Rove is: YES. Out of their job or ego requirements to say something, they create destruction. I don’t feel the same about Ed Schultz or Eugene Robinson or Larry McDonald; these are declared and overt flaming leftists whose opinions issue from vantage points everyone is aware of. I don’t feel the same about Meghan McCain or Rosy O’Donnell. Those two are just blithering idiots and all they do when they open their mouths is to prove it.

It is *exactly* my point that when someone apparently intelligent like CK opens his mouth out of the need to have something to say but without consideration of his media weight, that his intelligence is seriously called into question. We’d be noticeably better off without such sprinklings of his so-called “intelligence”.

First they touted McLame(2008) and now Romney(2012)..

How about solid, honest or even logical criticism of Sarah Palin?

Krauthammer is the guy who criticizes Palin one day and the next day is parroting the same ideas as though they were his own.

Krauthammer and Will are part of the Washington establishment. The Washington establishment looks at big government as their way of life.

Quite naturally, they are not going to be hospitable to candidates who promise to change their way of life.

In many respects, it ain't Democrat vs Republican, or even liberal vs conservative, it's Washington vs the rest of us.

Sarah Palin, assuming she runs for President, has a lot bigger worries than Krauthammer. There are a lot of major problems with Palin than those already committed to her as their choice want to admit. I’m not sure what damage was done by his comments. Sarah has all the big subjects right but let’s face it, she has yet to prove she can communicate or connect with those outside the conservative circle.

I think this position taken by most Palin supporters is getting a bit creepy. Ronald Reagan wasn’t this revered until he was out of politics for goodness sakes.

I don’t see it that way. Part of what makes Palin so desirable as a politician also makes her weak. There is nothing wrong with suggesting Palin be more knowledgeable about the enemies she’s about to face.

Excellent column.

I am shocked at the way some FReepers worship at Krathammer’s feet.

A few weeks ago one FReeper wrote that if Krathammer disagreed with him on anything, it would cause him to rethink his position. Unbelievable!
