I do wish people could listen to criticism of Palin without going haywire.

“...Glad you thought ‘stepping stone’ was so funny. maybe as better term would have been: “build up her resume””

Sorry Mike, like most Americans I don’t view taking a turn at the Senate as being resume building. POTUS is an executive position and requisite skills are found in places other than the Hill. I find it difficult to name more than a very few Senators that I even like, much less admire....

Thanks for th book info.
It is amazing how the media can create an image of someone
that is far removed from their true identity.

Thank for for your observations as I watched the Great interview and drew similar conclusions. And I don’t think Charles was attacking her...but he was pointing out where she needs to become stronger on specifics on foreign policy.

She is very strong on domestic energy. It would be interesting to see who she may have in mind for Cabinet posts, such as Secretary of State and Defense.

It has been a pretty amazing journey. Hard to remember when we didn’t have the internet.

Who are Palin’s enemies here on FR?

I agree. Things are moving very fast, and I think many people will be surprised.

He should *never* have been allowed even to sniff the reins of power in our country.

I agree

You mean the ones JR has not Zotted yet?

I’m not keeping a list.

Jim has booted the low hanging fruits already. The rest know they are on notice to keep their concern trolling a bit more subtle than their predecessors did.

You can follow Jim’s posts to see who decides to unmask themselves next...

I’m not sure what you mean by enemies. People on FR can be awfully thin skinned. What I mean is, there are some who would call anyone who has any criticism at all an enemy. I simply wondered what you meant.
I don’t tend to follow people here (that is, I don’t generally recall who says what —this is a place I come, discuss things, etc, not exactly the real world where I know particular people —I don’t keep track of people and often probably have a lively and even contentious discussion with someone one day and then a nice chat about their grandkids the next. Except for a few nasty jerks, I just don’t keep score and then only if they give me cause for concern).

So, I’m sorry for the long post, but my question remains. What do you mean by enemies? I am always a little afraid to say anything about Palin. I like her, but she’s not my first choice at this moment. On the other hand, I don’t want the Republicans to make their habitual mistake of picking off all of the good candidates before the election season really begins while Obama sits back and waits and amasses money and then uses all of that to walk away with the election in 2012. It’s hard for me to imagine a scenario in which I would not support anyone who runs against him.

Read the book I referenced. (‘Bring Her Down’: How the American Media Tried to Destroy Sarah Palin. Kindle Edition, $2.99)

Then come back here and see who is echoing the media’s spin against her.

They almost always begin by telling us “they like Sarah, but she’s not their first choice”. They usually won’t say who that first choice is, because it’s some blue state rino the enemy media can live with, or someone they know they can defeat. Then they will echo leftist enemy media inspired “concerns” about her supposed shortcomings and how if we want to win, our choice needs to be someone, or anyone, other than Sarah.

For some, their greatest secret fear is that someone with actual Christian faith might get elected.

FR is Palin Country. It’s not here to provide bandwidth to those with a conflicting agenda. Jim seems to be focused on keeping it that way.

My first choice is Herman Cain. You don’t seem to want to give me a real answer, so I’ll just direct another question at you. Am I the enemy if I criticize Sarah Palin in any way? And no, I’m not going to go read an entire book just because you want me to.

I don’t care to research all your posts to see if you fit my definition above or not. My guess is that you do not. No candidate is ever perfect, Not even Sarah.

I like Herman and I will be more than happy to vote for him over Obama, if he wins the primary.

Herman’s biggest drawback, in my view, is that he seems to give the Fed a pass. I don’t. I expect Sarah Palin would demand a greater level of accountability from the Fed than Herman Cain would. (Even Sarah, however, probably won’t lean on the Fed as hard as I would like them leaned on... Like I said, no candidate is perfect.)

On this site, which the owner has declared to be Palin Country, it might be more productive for folks to suggest how Sarah can do even better, rather than criticize her in the hope that we would choose their preferred candidate instead.

That said, there is no reason not to discuss the virtues and potential shortcomings of other Conservative candidates and Conservative potential candidates, just in case...

The book, by the way, is a very quick read. I read it front to back in less than three hours. It’s some 250 pages long, and a fourth of it is footnotes and supporting URL links.

It is quite useful research, in my opinion, not only for pointing out all the things the media says about Sarah that just aren’t true (and why), but for the insight it provides into how the enemy media operates in the first place.

For those that plan to criticize Sarah Palin here on this site anyway, this book will at least help you to avoid repeating enemy media lies and spin that might just get you banned from FreeRepublic.

Just because I support Sarah Palin for the primary, doesn’t mean I don’t want all of our best Conservatives to run.

The more the merrier. I want them to suck all the air out of the room from the rinos and cinos. Besides, if Sarah doesn’t run, we’re going to have to decide between them, and it would be best if we knew early on who we’re going to be getting behind if it should come to that. (Or who we want for Sarah’s running mate, if it doesn’t.)

I too, find it hard to imagine a scenario in which I would not support whoever wins the Republican primary against Obama, although it will really frost me if by the time I get to cast my primary vote in CA, Mitch Romney and Ron Paul are the only Republicans left standing. (I’d have to take Paul and pray for the best... Shudder...)

Let’s do Palin/West, or Palin/Cain or if Sarah doesn’t run, Cain/West, or Cain/Bachman, or any other sane combination, instead. We should be thinking about narrowing in on our second and third choices soon, so as to be prepared for all contingencies.

It sounds like we agree. I just don’t want the eventual candidate to have to wipe off so much Republican mud that they can’t win. I don’t think we can survive another 4 years of you know who. Yikes.
It’s really sad that so many people think Tina Fey IS Sarah Palin. That really frosts me.
