I don't really know anything about him, but Gen. Ray Odierno is a "rising star" and I predict he will be a political force in this nation. I don't even know what political party, if any, that he sides with. He was the Commander (Major General) of the troops that caught Saddam. ("In a major accomplishment late in the deployment, Odierno’s troops captured Saddam Hussein in December 2003").
One of the talking head generals on Fox News said that Winnefeld was a highly respected leader, and an excellent choice for Vice Chairman JCS.
As I see it there are many of these high ranking military officers who someday will have to face up to the fact/knowledge that Obama is not/was not a Constitutional eligible CinC. At that time I will have more disgust with them than I do today for following the usurper. At such time I believe these lackeys should forfeit all pay/pensions and be resigned from any military accolades. I believe such is warranted because these persons have proved they are more attuned to status than upholding the Constitutional requirement of eligibility for POTUSA/CinC. No begging off with just following orders. We the People and our Constitution far out rank any military rank.Of course this is just the feelings of a low G.I.
So in this case, it may have been for the best that the marine who was favored, was not picked (considering that HuffPo and WSJ are total opposites and both consider General Cartright to be a buddy of Obama). Every article on this particular marine, showed him to be a pure Obama lackey, and he was viewed and resented as such.
Personally, my guess is, that Dempsey was chosen because he is not confrontational and the administration is picking its battles and wasn't in the mood to fight this one.
Good luck with that. Considering that it is a minority, not the majority that believes that Obama is not constitutionally eligible, its pretty probable that those high ranking officers fit think he is the legal POTUS. This isn't a case of them knowing better and serving anyway, this is a case where they (like a majority of the country) believe he is legally POTUS.
As far as they are concerned, THEY are upholding the constitution, and anyone who would refuse to follow zero, would be committing treason. When thats what the high ranking guys think, how could the be blamed ? Its not the following orders defense, its the "You vetted him, you swore him in, you said he is our CinC, why should we not believe him?".
At that point, if Obama is ever proven to be illegible, the military will be among the LAST people who will have to answer for following this PofS. Those who should have vetted him (like congress and the chief justice of the supreme court who swore him in) will have to answer first.

Regarding the issue of lawful order, that speaks to the elements of the order itself, not the issuing authority, absent the removal of that issuing authority.

Yes, of course, you wouldn't deign to mention the participation of the Sixth, Eighth, and Tenth U.S. Armies--and the Chinese, British, the Australians--and even the Soviets, in defeating the IJA.
I love the Corps, but sometimes you guys need to give a hat tip to the other services and allies. The Marines fielded 6 full divisions in World War II--yet the Army sent 20 into the Pacific-- and about 69 to the ETO. But somehow, only the Marines seem to get the credit.
Marines, or Army, or Airmen, or Sailors...rest assured, Obama hates all of you equally, because you are the men he will NEVER be. HE doesn’t see a difference.

As you suggest it is a matter of one groups believing and another groups believing. I take it also that you might agree that neither group has established sufficient proof of Obama’s eligibility one way or the other, per the Constitutional mandate of ‘natural born citizen’. I believe there are many dots that connect to show Obama is not Constitutionally eligible to be POTUSA. I agree he is entitled to the office of POTUSA by virtue of votes. I also believe that many of those votes were cast on ‘change’ and not on knowledge or even care about the Constitutional mandate of ‘natural born citizen’. This brings me around to responsibility of all. The Congress and SC have the duty by oath to uphold and defend the Constitution as opposed to closing their eyes if not intentionally ignoring It. Shame and condemnation for them when the truth is verified about Obama’s eligibility and they did nothing to uphold their oath. As for the military non-coms they are bound by oath whether or not they realize or understand to obey orders of of those above in rank including the POTUSA. However. the oath for military officers besides orders of command is explicit as to serving the higher sole purpose of preserving and defending the Constitution. It is my contention that any military officer in service today cannot/should not be ignorant of the Constitutional mandate for POTUSA. History and facts will prove if they served a legitimate POTUSA or whether they served and enabled a usurper of our Constitution. As has been pointed out to me many times in my life time, “ignorance of the law is no excuse’.
The other side is positively DROOLING at any and every slightest show of disunity on our side. Whatever grieveances exist amongst us, we need to remember at all times who benefits from it. And I’ll be DAMNED if I give those MFer’s any ammunition to use against us.
You’re right of course. I hope you passed the same message along to the person who bad mouthed the Army by stating that Army officers have their spines removed.
