MANHATTAN — Rep. Anthony Weiner continues to insist that it must have been a hacker who sent a lewd crotch shot of a bulge in boxer shorts from the congressman's Twitter account.
"Anthony's accounts were obviously hacked," the Queens and Brooklyn congressman's spokesman told the Associated Press. "He doesn't know the person named by the hacker, and we will be consulting on what steps to take next."
The photo went viral after being posted on Saturday night by BigGovernment.com, a site run by conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart, which said the image was tweeted to a Seattle woman.
The college student who received the tweet, Gennette Cordova, 21, of Seattle, told the Daily News she was a fan of the congressman but had never met him.
In a statement to the paper, she blamed the photo on a person who had harassed her "many times" after Weiner followed her on Twitter roughly a month ago. She believed it was "this person and his cohorts" latest attempt at "defaming" the congressman.
"I have seen myself labeled as the 'Femme Fatale of Weinergate,' 'Anthony Weiner's 21-year-old coed mistress' and 'the self-proclaimed girlfriend of Anthony Weiner,'" she said in the statement. "All of this is so outlandish that I don't know whether to be pissed off or amused, quite frankly."
She said that she once tweeted that, "I wonder what my boyfriend @RepWeiner is up to," but that "contrary to the impression that I apparently gave from my tweet, I am not his girlfriend. Nor am I the wife, girlfriend or mistress of Barack Obama, Ray Allen or Cristiano Ronaldo, despite the fact that I have made similar assertions about them via Twitter."
Weiner, a prolific tweeter, poked some light of the situation on his Twitter account, writing "Tivo shot. FB hacked. Is my blender gonna attack me next?"
He told Politico, “The weiner gags never get old, I guess."
The tweet was "a distraction" from Weiner's "important work representing his constituents," his spokesman told the AP.
Weiner, 46, who is married to Huma Abedin, an aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was a former New York City mayoral hopeful and is still widely considered contender for the upcoming race.

I’m betting he comes clean today. If he is guilty, there’s no way his story is gonna hold together within the next few days. If he’s smart, he’ll cut his losses right now and confess. I’m not naive enough to believe he’ll actually tell the truth. No, he’ll admit there was no hacker and he’ll come up with something to explain the photo in his yfrog account. And he’ll claim he was fixing his TIVO or something when he accidentally tweeted the undie pic and then he panicked and came up with his wacky hacker story to protect his very religious and chaste wife.. But right now, confession is his only real option.

That pic could become the universal picture id for all Dem voters. But because they all look like little pricks we may have to resort to fingerprints or dna to correctly determine if the voter matches his or her registration.
Look for some dumb and blind liberal fall on his sword and admit he hacked the account.
I don’t agree. Weiner was in New York this weekend and I think he’s been working on a full proof story to try and explain things away with as little damage as possible. He’s going to have to confess to at least some kind of coverup. This story is not gonna go away and he knows it. The biggest disappointment isn’t the MSM, it’s Drudge. This is the biggest story on the internet and he hasn’t said a word. I think this will really hurt his credibility if he doesn’t step forward. I have my own personal theories why he hasn’t said anything. One could be he’s out of town.

On another note I have been following this on Twitter, about 3 to 1 ratio of Tweets beating up on the Wiener. The Libs don't get it, they think we are prudes and this is his personal business, they are wrong as usual. No it's about hypocrisy, and the MSM again carrying Libs water. About the silence of the DEMS to properly ostracize this creep. Exposing this so that even the mushed brained can see it is what I want.
I don’t think it has anything to do with sex either. If Weiner admitted he sent the photo, he’d be the butt of many late night jokes, but he’d easily survive. Nope, this is about the coverup and we should never forget that or Weiner can slink out of this whole mess. Weiner is a sitting U.S. Congressman who claimed a major federal law was broken- someone not only impersonated a U.S. official, but they hacked his accounts- a gross violation of national cyber security. I realize he didn’t file a police report- he’s not that stupid. But he is a U.S. congressman who publicly claimed twice- that a federal law was broken.
Weener needs to go represent I-da-ho.
