Thanks for posting that! Pictures like that just stop my heart and really make me THINK of those that have gone before me.

Putting up a fresh flag tomorrow AM. The current one is a little ragged due to the horrible storms/winds we’re had through here - but I always keep a spare on hand!

Thanks Diane ... my dear Dad passed away earlier this year, WWII Navy, Pacific theater (the *dirty war* he always called it).. I hadn't been to Grandpa & Grandma's site in years, decades even, but given current circumstances figured today was a perfect opportunity to do so, as there was an Airshow happening nearby.

The 'flags' thing at every site at every National Cemetery every Memorial Day is one of the few things that government consistently gets right for our American heros. I didn't want to say that in the OP because it would take away from the honor of the occasion and maybe sound a bit petty political, but hopefully you and FReepers know what I mean by it
