This bug is a threat to agriculture. Food prices are high enough as it is and this could make it even worse.

Just when it became rare to see Japanese beetles around here, stink bugs showed up.

There are many YouTube videos discussing different types of traps. The homemade version (on the cheap) that looks good is here. A commercial (home made and a little pricey) is here. The Pittsburgh area had quite the invasion this past year.

Last fall I was installing LED lighting in my two story kit barn and found "hundreds" had crawled behind the wooden gusset plates. It was something like out of a horror film. Bug bombs worked, but it was very unpleasant. Thank you China.

This must be a different bug from the one I call a stink bug, because they have been around a lot longer than ‘98.

We have HUNDREDS of these guys in our house. I counted more than 70 around the kitchen window one day. That’s 70 at a single counting. What’s up with Japan? Kudzu, Snakehead fish, Chestnut blight, Japanese beetles, and now this?

They must taste bad too because the chickens and ducks won’t even eat them.

I understand that the Democrats are going to offer the stink bug amnesty and instate college tuition.

Besides losing our massive edge in production and manufacturing this is but another stab in the back from China and the free traders and the USA second or third or fourthers that have influence in our government.

These critters represent a plague on us that those who like the Commies more than the USA have foisted upon us. My GOP Congressman that I once supported heavily has never opposed a free trade pact. Should that bother me? But it does.

These appear very much like what I’ve had to fight for decades in my garden. I wonder if this one and the sane or some new type of breed. We called them stink bugs or squash bugs because they will lay their eggs on the squash leaves and if left to hatch out and mature, they will end up killing the squash. I fight them until July or so and then they seem to overwhelm the squash and kill it all. By that time I’ve gotten all the squash wanted and I guess my will to fight the buggers starts weakening. If anyone knows whether these are a new type or what is an effective pesticide to use against them without totally contaminating the vegetables for our own purposes, I would appreciate any info. - OB1
