Actually most American food, aside from meat, is never inspected. The plants producing the food may be inspected once a year.
I go into food processing plants in the USA pretty regularly. These folks are very serious about health.

I agree but that that doesn't mean they are inspected by any outsiders. Companies in the US are serious about food safety because it is good for business. No one wants a
food safety scandal because it will kill your brand, cost you a lot of money and being safe is simply the right thing to do.
