.....Why are smart people so stupid?

great question that few can answer.

Newt remains the consummate think tank guru and hope fully he will stay there after coming out and having his moment in the sun.

"if opposing bad ideas that a Socialist potus puts forth makes me a racist than I proudly carry that banner.

Probably something a radio talk show host can say, but as a politician in the Republican party, the state run media only plays the second part of that for a sound bite

If experience and knowledge were the criteria, why surely BobDole and Juan McCain would have won. It does explain the GOP penchant for picking over-the-hill, next-in-line losers, however.

Hint: Newt would be pushing 69 when he took office for his first term. (Just going along with the suspect idea that he could be elected.)

Maybe, but without true guts and Ronald Reagan standup and fight mentality we wont beat zero.

Defending oneself from made up racist charges when few if any running for office fit the bill just plays right into the hand of the (when did you stop beating your wife) mentality of left. They know it works since it beat Hillary when all they did was spin statements made by Bill.

When racist charges are made only bold statement made back to the left can counter the charges. If you are weak in your responses or go on the defensive, they win we lose,IMHO.

It;s the last playing card for the far left, when all else fails accuse us of being racist. It usually fires up their base and we are all too often too weak to respond.

Paul says we should have told Pakistan where bin Laden was and let them arrest him. If he is that naive, then he will never get my vote.

“Opposite on Newt, I think he brings the realities that the media wishes to ignore”

I do like the way he shot back on how the left always pulls the race card, when his past remark about BHO being the “food stamp President” was called racist by the press. (Yesterday when I heard him say that, I joked to a friend that it was a “racist” remark ‘cause I just knew the leftist media would go there.)

I also liked his answer to DG’s question “Don’t you think the President believes in American exceptionalism?” To which Newt said, “No, I don’t”.

Honest answer to Mr. Snarky.

Thanks, Rodguy, for the Newt and Dave report.

If only Newt didn’t sometimes have difficulty with the message and always have difficulty with himself as the messenger, he could work...

I look forward to the match-up between Sarah Palin and DNC Dave. She won't accept or put up with his rat snark approach and will have him field dressed in no time flat.

lol, calling obama the “food stamp” president makes you a racist? obama is leading the country on the path toward Detroit (surprised THAT wasn’t considered racist).

Newt says obama doesn’t believe in American Exceptionalism. Newt is right.

Yeah for sure, hes an 80 percenter. But caving to the left all the time and not supporting people like Ryan make for his down fall,IMHO.

I didn't watch the show (no teevee, don't miss it), and thank you for your excellent synopsis and added opinion.

I think I could vote for Newt, despite my deep, deep disappointment in his caving in the face of the '94 (or whenever it was) shutdown. I think Newt is just another flavor of NWO/Washington, DC face.

Round table discussion about Newt on MTP - Peggy Noonan’s take on Newt - when Newt was being interviewed, everyone in the green room stopped and listened.

Halperin says he is one of the most underrated potential candidates.

MTP just came on in on area now. I am not a big fan of Newt, but I am sure that the MSM objective of the interview is part of their Whack a Mole with every Rep candidate who raises his/her head. Just try to destroy the Rep field and make it appear that there is no credible canditate to challenge the One. The reality is that 2012 will be a referendum on Obama.

Just heard Newt trying to position himself as a moderate on the reform of Medicare. Compares the Ryan plan as radical change from the Right. The fact is that only radical change will be needed. Health care drives the budget deficits and it will get worse as the Baby Boomer cohort retires.

“One thing I am giving up on is demanding perfection. I am going to try to think strategically about who I support to go up against the worst President in U S history.”

Amen, FRiend.

“This is not a beauty contest or a morality play. This is survival of the Republic. We have to decide, who is the most conservative candidate who can actually win.”

You’re a realist and well-spoken on this. We MUST GET BHO OUT and the only way is to pick the strongest persona who can kick Marxist butt in one-on-one confrontations.

I’m enjoying the answers from some strong R’s to the hostile media this morning like Haley and Newt.
