Mike Huckabee said Saturday there would be no sequel to his surprisingly strong 2008 White House bid, in which he won the Iowa Republican caucus and finished second in the primaries to Sen. John McCain.
"All the factors say go, but my heart says no," Huckabee, who was considered the GOP frontrunner in several national polls, said on his Fox News Channel show.
Before his announcement Saturday night, Huckabee hadn't shared his decision with his closest advisers.
Many of those advisers predicted Huckabee wouldn't run.
Ed Rollins, who was Huckabee's national campaign chairman for the 2008 campaign, said he expected this decision after Huckabee had broken off communications with him about a week ago.

People don't vote for nut jobs.
They couldn't win one state.
Huckster who?
What color is your sky? Do you really believe all the SRM BS?
I have another version of “follow the money.” On the way home from Happy Valley this evening I told my traveling companions that I expected the Huckster to bow out. Most of them disagreed.
My point was that Huck probably makes a $Million$ or more a year for his gig on Fox, and he’d be insane to throw that aside to chase after the elusive ephemeral possibilty that he could just possibly, by the skin of his teeth, maybe, become POTUS.
I agree. Palin should have the POTUS slot. Furthermore, I do not believe, after all she has been through, that she would agree to play second banana again. I’d say it’s the driver’s seat or nuttin’ !
Easy life, good money as a TV pundit. Why go back in the spotlight for a longshot bid?
You mean the Condi who voted for Dear Leader in 2008?
But, but, we have Boner.../s
I'll drink to that!
recently ,he purchased a 3.5 million home in FL.
he likes the cash . who doesn’t it.
No way in creation will two women be elected together as the first woman pres. and first woman VP.
I wasn’t gonna vote for him anyway!
Dr. Z....I’d like to buy you another Fosters!
Like another FReeper said, “Huck is just a liberal who happens to be pro-life.”
“All the factors say go...”
Bull.
It would be interesting to watch. But they would get brutalized in the general election. Just brutalized.
Perhaps. But who ever thought that a black guy with a muslim name that sounds eerily similar to an arch terrorist who was close friends with a racist preacher and a domestic terror mastermind and a guy who got caught flat out plagiarizing his entire campaign from a UK Labour leader would ever be elected as Pres/VP?
Whoever thought a guy from AR who dodged the draft and lied about it, was well known to be a rabid womanizer, had used drugs in his past, would ever be elected?
Whoever thought Richard Nixon whose career seemingly ended in disgrace when he lost the Gov race in CA would ever be elected President?
Things happen in politics.
No! His enormous ego is being sufficiently stroked by Fox ... and there’s no longer a need to give the election to McCain by boxing out the Mormon.
I am with you, if those two get the nominations then I am voting for Obama.
