MANCHESTER, Conn. -- The Washington-based Tax Foundation found that when one calculates the average tax burden for people in each state, Connecticut ranks No. 1. The calculation includes federal, state, and local taxes.
New Jersey and New York follow Connecticut close behind.
States with the lowest tax burden states are South Carolina, Tennessee and Mississippi.
...
The Tax Foundation calculated that two hours out of an eight-hour workday goes toward paying taxes.

I’m a Cter. Not for long.
I’m a Cter. Not for long.
They are closer to paying their fair share than the rest of us. ; )
No sympathy for them. They keep voting for Democrats. You reap what you sow.
Connecticut has the highest percentage of households with an income over $250K at 7.5%. They are paying the bulk of the taxes.
They are also supporting and electing the Democrats who run Connecticut. If they get fed up, you will see a change.
I just hope when they move south they realize why they had to move, voting Democratic.
Me too. I know multiple other Cter’s who are in some form of planning to move out of this state.
Peter Richards of Manchester in the last quote is an idiot......Vote the assholes out...Some one in Manchester get to this frigen moron
I moved here to CT in 2006 with the Navy. I am now living here with my wife. However, we are planning to move. All these people do, is vote for people that promise more taxes.
"What are you going to do? You can't fight city hall," said Peter Richards, of Manchester.
Yes, there is something you can do. STOP voting for liberals. I have no sympathy for the people in Connecticut. They just keep voting for liberals. THAT is the problem. The people ARE the the problem.
Not all of us vote for Democrats; in fact, the last gubanatorial election was “won” by 6,500 votes that were “found” in a bag in Bridgeport. What I blame is the State Central GOP for doing NOTHING to counter this obvious fraud.
And, yes, we’re getting the hell out too, just as soon as humanly possible.
and it only took twenty years to go from not having an income tax to being the most heavily taxed in the land
Well, well well, It wouldn’t have anything to do with the newly elected rat Governor who when posed the question on how to create jobs he had the typical liberal progressive elitist answer. You deserve what you got
Our TEA party group calls Malloy "Governor bag-o-ballots".
I can't believe the stupidity of the CT voters.
I was in Osh-Kosh B'Gosh the other day. I struck up a conversation with the lady at the checkout. I reminded her that now is the time to buy clothes before the new sales tax kicks in.
Another woman was standing there waiting. The checkout lady said, "It's going to be terrible for the people of CT having to pay taxes on everything."
I said, "Hey, he said he was going to raise taxes and they voted for him anyway." The lady standing there had this dumb look on her face and I knew she voted for him.
What I really wanted to say was, "Hey, he said he was going to raise taxes and they these idiots voted for him anyway."
I should have.
The GOP in CT is apathetic in the extreme. They have been beaten for so long they really don't even try anymore. It's sad. I want out of CT, too but my wife won't do it.
Okay, I have sympathy fo those of you who vote against the Democrats. And reallyI can’t talk because I live in Southern California and have sat by and watched the state GOP allow the socialist take over the last 15-20 years.
If you would of told me just 5 years ago Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown would be governor once again I would of laughed......The laugh is on me now. Give me the days when California was Reagan country.
Keeping polling locations longer due to “accidentally” forgetting to order enough ballots and some quality time with the photocopier didn’t help either.
I found this gem from then candidate Malloy to the CSEA, a AFSCME local.

Public employee unions own Ct state gov lock, stock and barrel.
Taxpayers don’t have a chance.
