America’s finest at it again.
Cop did one of those takedowns where you grab the bad guy and throw him across your body to the ground. Except in this case the ‘bad guy’ was an 84yo drunk guy and he landed on his neck, breaking it.
The dept has been backing up the cop saying that the old guy was threatening to punch the cop and that the cop used an ‘approved technique’ to throw him to the ground. Except in this case, an 84yo guy’s neck bones broke. A tow truck driver is on record saying the old guy was punching him too a little earlier that night because he was going to tow his car. The tow truck driver was asked how it felt when the old guy was hitting him. The driver replied that it felt like you thought it would feel with a drunk, 84yo guy hitting you. The PD is saying even 84yo drunks can knock out a cop.
Frankly, I think the cop used very poor judgement in this case. He could have just held the old man, cuffed him and through him in a car. Instead, he let the old guy get under his skin and so he tossed him to the ground and severely injured him.
