President Obama says he decided not to release photos of Osama bin Ladens corpse because they could put national security at risk and serve as a propaganda tool for extremists.
We don't trot out this stuff as trophies, Obama said in an interview with 60 Minutes, according to a transcript read by White House press secretary Jay Carney at his briefing on Wednesday. I think Americans and people around the world are glad that he is gone. But we don't need to spike the football.
Obama said in the interview that DNA testing and facial analysis confirmed that bin Laden had been killed in the Sunday raid in Pakistan, and that making public very graphic photos of someone shot in the head would serve to inflame enemies passions.

He is the stupidest man alive.
I laughed today when I read that they were not releasing pictures because Osama wasn’t a trophy. He had a bounty on his head, he was a trophy. Idiots.
Geez what a stupid expression to use...

From the big man who shot the bird when he mentioned Hillary Clinton.
Fascinating article. I find it quite believable!
they could blur out the wound, and show his 6 ft 4 body. I assume they took photos of his body with a tape measure to show his height

It’s totally believeable. Much more so than the official version.
Jane Fonda is appropriate for those.
Good thing Leon Panetta successfully organized a de facto coup at the White House. Obama kept aborting the plan (when Valerie Jarrett repeatedly urged him to abort it), but Panetta eventually got Hillary, Gates, Clapper, Daley, et. al. to back him in issuing the go order without telling Obama and Jarrett.
Obama was pulled off the golf course and told about the successful mission after the fact. They essentially told him to sit down and STFU and watch the results in the situation room. Thats why he looks so unhappy, grim, and pissed off in the pic and at the press statement.
Zero said we could absorb another terrorist attack. So what gives?
Good point. The liberals wanted to release Abu Grahib (sp?) photos, and kept that story alive for months.
In fact, the ACLU even went to court to force the release of even more Abu Grahib photos.
So the liberal view of things has evolved. The liberal view used to be that we should release documentary evidence of military prisoners or military operations results. Now the liberal view is that some things are best kept secret.
The liberal view used to be to publish secrets, such as our data mining and cell phone tracking, in the New York Times. Now good liberals want certain things kept under wraps. The liberals didn’t care about inflaming passions in the Muslim world in the past. Now, that issue is front and center, for some reason.
Panetta has turned out to be more honorable than I expected. He’s turned on Obama on more than one occasion IIRC.
Everything he does or says irritates me, but his using this lame football analogy about a very serious matter, really bugged the heck out of me.
He is such a jerk.
I’m more comfortable with Biden as de facto POTUS and Obama as the token magic mulatto in any situation.
When at war, it is stupid to try to avoid provoking or offending the enemy.
;-D
After his decision to hide the evidence and facts surrounding Bin Laden’s death and his initial decision to try KSM in New York, I will hope for the loudest shouts of protest in New York history.
I can dream, can't I?
Obama lies. His admin has been spiking the football since Sunday night. They just keep getting called on it.
