Huck, this whole thing IS political. It’s to glorify the 2012 Communist/New World Order candidate for President, so he can finish destroying America.
Whether Bin Laden was killed two years ago in Afghanistan, killed Sunday in Pakistan or not killed at all is secondary. The primary thing is Obama prancing and strutting in his usual narcisistic manner, taking ALL the credit for what Bush and Cheney and Guantanamo and the Seals did.
You can’t trust a government that lies, Huck, and that’s our government in Washington
I agree. I came on here in the am and it was not bad. By the evening I could only read a few minutes of the stuff posted here and then went back to watching the ball game.
There is a reason I rarely post or lurk anymore.
Intelligent discourse on this site left long ago.
While I can sympothize with your feelings, I don’t completely agree with them.
Are there too many conspiracy peeps around, probably, but is it understandable, yes.
I don’t even blame obama for it, although he sure hasn’t helped. I blame both sides, because the dems and the gop are SO busy spinning every single thing in their favor that it makes it almost impossible for normal people to know what the truth is.
I think osama was killed just as was reported, but if I found out later than he had died of natural causes months or years ago, and this was all a scam, I wouldn’t be surprised much at all.
The trust level of our govt. is zero with me, and they have earned it. I don’t blame anyone for having any “conspiratorial” views, if they are honest thoughts from a calm head. I happen to not believe the latest obama BC, but I don’t see the truth coming out till long after he leaves office.
I guess the only thing that happened yesterday that got under my skin was obamas speech. It was as classless as it could be. He barely mentioned the troops at all, and never mentioned Bush at all, if I’m not mistaken. UBL would still be alive if not for Bush, and osama should have thanked him for his effots. I guess obama just can’t help but be obama.
Gotta love the SEALS!!!! :-D
I agree. I am proud of ALL involved in killing Bin Laden and I am proud to be an AMERICAN. I will leave it at that.
I, like 99.99% of all Freepers, was joyus at the news that bin Laden was dead. But that joy was deeply tempered by the nacissistic and insulting speech that Obama gave immediately after the news broke.
If my attitude upsets you then too bad. Obama is a serial liar and unworthy of the office of President. The whole operation was made possible only because of the enhanced interrogation techniques employes by Bush, and while Obama was poised to prosecute the CIA agents who authorized it, the lawyers who advised Bush that it was legal and the soldiers who carried it out, Obama was more than happy to take full credit while at the same time implying that Bush dropped the ball.
The hypocrisy of this Administration makes me sick. If my expression of that reaction upsets you, then I think you are the one with the problem, not Free Republic.
Bin Laden is likely in hell. The response should not be joyous outbursts as was seen in the Muslim world after 911. Instead, the response should be a time for somber reflection that a man's soul is lost forever, and remembrance of our dead who lost their lives. I
Also....The war against Islamic terrorism is not yet won. It should be a time for solemn resolve to win.
And....( Most important)....It is a time to offer our sincerest thanks to the military who do so much to keep us safe.
Next time, make a quick post in the thread saying exactly what you said and walk away. I think what you will find is a bit of clear logic goes a long way towards dispersing the all the obsessives.
Look at it this way, the next two years is going to be interesting. With the election coming up and all of us finding out (again) that Republicans and Conservatives are two different beasts, we are going to need more clear logic from people like you. I don’t want Obama to lose in 2012. I want Conservatives to win.
The forum is different now — that goes without saying.
But some of the cynical attitude is brought on by the plain poor character of the figurehead of this leftist juggernaut. I find it hard not to count the “I” and “my” references. It clouds all victory and shades all sunshine.
I am glad our forces got him after so many years of effort. I congratulate them with a full heart for those we lost.
when a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, does it make a sound?
when a “nutjob birther” posts a thread and people like you skip it, does it make a sound?
No one forces anyone here into uncivil discourse, pick one of the thousands of other topics to discuss or start your own
my 2 cents
(crickets)
there is just something about the malignant narcissist in chief that sets off certain people, permeates every occasion. It was hard to focus on the accomplishments of our military when counting the number of times the punk Barry said “I” or “Me” overhwelmed the message
You make some good points, but I think you’re reading too much into it. I’d rather have a diverse group of opinions than a monolithic discourse.
Agreed. I considered giving up on FR. Less than 24 hours after the event, the site was swamped with idiots carping that perfect proof and understanding of the incident was lacking.
The Obama may be bad, but he’s not Satan incarnate. Something good happened on his watch, information is still forthcoming, not all information will be released, not everyone will receive nor understand everything, and - the big problem with most *ers of whatever ilk - just because you don’t understand some minor detail does not mean it’s proof of a major conspiracy.
OBL is dead.
Celebrate already.
I too got worn out with Freeping yesterday and the celebrating. Although I am satisfied that Bin Laden paid the ultimate price I dont think it is cause for celebration. The taking of any life, even a pig like bin Laden is to be taken seriously. When I heard about the crowds at the White House and Times Square I had flashbacks to the Muslims in NJ and the Middle East celebrating 9-11.
I dislike Obama as much as anyone for the damage he has done to the country of my birth but taking out Bin Laden shows the damage has not reached the core. We are still a better country than the one envisioned by the progressives. We have no need to apologize for that.
So let us thank God and our military for this teachable moment to the crazies of the world that America is not a country to be trifled with. We can hope that this lesson helps to prevent further bloodshed.
Freerepublic is still my number one site for the real news. Yes there are some junk stories and sometimes it gets out of hand but it is still by far the best.
It is hard to stomach and hard to celebrate when two-faced Obama poisons everything he touches.
Lead by example, not from behind like the Won, who's also blameless.
Like many others, I had believed that Bin Laden must have been dead for a long time, assuming that he was forced to dwell in extreme conditions. It was actually a pleasant surprise to discover that he was alive, just so that we could enjoy killing him. And it does not matter how much credit our current President tries to take for getting Osama, we all know the truth: our special forces succeeded only because Obama decided not to abandon George Bush's terrorism policy, after all.
I'm usually the first one at work and here's what everyone saw when they walked in the office yesterday morning:
I have been here since 1999 and I totally disagree with you. All in all the fine folks on FR are proud of our military and are happy to see Osama meet his maker. The fact that many do not trust the government is a good thing.
