Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, May 2nd,2011
I double-checked. Those results are like finding out that the Republicans have won the plurality of congressional districts from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York.
Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island were the only provinces with a majority of Liberal ridings. That’s a loss of six out of seventeen liberals’ seats.
Can any Americans get Sun News?
They’re not allowing streaming the States. That’s BS.
Nope. They’ve locked us out.
10 minutes away from Ontario results. East Canada results are mostly in. The Liberal strategist on SUN TV looks a little shaky.
He should look shaky. Ontario may be the Liberal’s last stand, and even then Greater Toronto is going to go NDP.
I think the Conservatives will get a majority or close to it. The Libs are completely screwed.
I can’t get Sun and I’m an American :^) 0% of our survey sample of 1 (+/- 100%) failed to get the Sun.
Also: Those early results ARE very promising, but they are NOT, as I had believed, from the Atlantic Provinces. News coverage of the leak shows a screen capture of a Quebec riding.
So what’s the deal, anyone know? The Canadians have election results and they’re not showing them even though it’s after 10?
WHOA! Results are in... Conservatives gain in Nova Scotia
WHOA! Results are in... Conservatives gain in Nova Scotia ... and Labrador. NDP party (radical Left) takes over seats from Bloc Quebecois ...
308 total seats.
Conservatives winning in Quebec ridings? Really? Cool!!
The CBC just called JACK LAYTON as leader of the opposition.
WHOA! Results are in... Conservatives gain in Nova Scotia ... and Labrador. NDP party (radical Left) takes over seats from Bloc Quebecois ...
... Could be a route... Conservatives look to gain a pair from Liberals in New Brunswick, also... NDP crushing BQ.
At least he won’t be the Prime Minister for now!!
Stephen Harper returns to lead the country with (maybe) a majority government. Woohoo! :)
The Bloc and the Grits are imploding. Tories at 145, NDP 93, Liberals 32, Bloc 4
This could be historic... It looks as if Canada’s moved to a two-party system, Conservatives v. NDP. Bloc Quebecois and the Liberals have totally collapsed.
Bloc Quebecois are like Yellow-dogs... phony moderates who attract a strictly regional vote. They’ve formed governments with Conservatives in the past though.
Liberals WERE the major liberal party, now the radical NDP has taken over, it seems.
I see that Iggy (leader of Libs) and Duceppe (leader of BQ) are trailing in their own ridings. Time for new leaders even if they eke out a win?!!
