The SEALS raided the compound. A firefight ensured. Bin Laden fired back, as did others in the compound.
After 40 minutes of fighting, bin Laden, two couriers, and one of bin Ladens adult sons were killed, as was a woman used as a shield by one of the male members of al Qaeda. Two other women were injured.
During the raid one helicopter was lost due to mechanical failure. The aircraft was destroyed by the crew.
Carrying bin Ladens dead body, the SEALS boarded the remaining helicopter to exit the compound.
White House national security staffers had been in the Situation Room since 1pm ET. At 2:00pm the President met with the Principals to review final preparations.
At 3:50pm the President was told bin Laden had been tentatively identified.
Too bad, so sad...Boo Hooh! /s
That POS is dead on the 10 year anniversary of his evil act.
I only wish I was able to stand next to him and do the world a favor.
BTW, it's harder for me to look at a picture of Obama than Osama. Don't get me wrong, I know what OBL did to us. But BO's picture makes me sick to my stomach. That's amazing. I detest Barack more than Osama. That's saying a lot. Is any body else experiencing this?
Locals in Abbottabad on Twitter and Facebook reported that the gunfire only lasted 4 to 5 minutes, and there were no further shots fired.
Raid occured around 12:35AM local time, Monday morning, May 2, 2011. That’s around 2:35pm EDT Sunday.
That photo going around is fake from last November.
Confirmed by locals, 2 Blackhawks and 2 Cobras, as well as a B-2 or some other fixed wing asset came in afterwards.
The Blackhawk might have been shot down, locals report, though they are civilians and weren’t sure.
So that’s how it goes.
Obama couldn’t even be bothered to stay in the Situation Room during the operation? That’s cold.
The most important military operation in years, and he can’t drag himself away from the golf tournament or NBA playoff game long enough to monitor it? Sheesh.
(I knew I’d find something to sheesh him about, othe4r than his self-centered speech last night.)
