I think it's a real person who was on the staff there ~ but LEE is not just a common name in Hawaii, they actually have Lee Family Association meeting houses in possibly every town ~ just like China.

Most Lee family members create a "chop" (Chinese characters making up their full name) that takes advantage of flexibility in characters and writing techniques such that the result is UNIQUE to that person.

We also have a tradition where Chinese will typically have FOUR NAMES. Creates havoc in the credit worthiness industry which is based on record keeping and analysis at the level of only 3 names at a single address.

Doesn't work in a Chinese household!

It’s hard to imagine that in 1961 registrars were allowed to use chops on a state document.
