We are talking about Hawaii. But the guy fooled you into seeing his script as consisting of latin letters EVEN when several parts of it are clearly NOT letters at all! BTW, famous Chinese Americans in/from Hawaii are: http://www.yellowbridge.com/people/firsts.php Hiram Fong was one of the Senators at the time Obama was being born.

BTW, it is still a common practice with State Department for persons with facility in any sort of Chinese character system to ADD A CHOP ~ usually within brackets. That allows more certain differentiation between Chinese individuals.
