"I just want you to know that we are working on it," Barack Obama reportedly told Sarah Brady regarding gun control. "We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar."
This interesting bit of news was reported in an April 11 Washington Post Lifestyle section story about Obama's gun-control and regulatory policy wonk Steve Croley. Toward the end of the article the writer, Jason Horowitz, mentions a March 30 meeting between Jim and Sarah Brady and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney during which the President "dropped in."
Horowitz quotes Sarah Brady relating how President Obama gave his personal assurance that he and his administration were working hard on a gun-control agenda. Brady reported that Obama then told them about advancing the agenda "under the radar."
Apparently Mrs. Brady either doesn't grasp the concept of "under the radar," or, more likely, she expected the reporter to be discreet and keep the "good news" about Obama's stealth operations to himself. Thankfully this reporter chose to report the news, so we have direct corroboration of Obama's sneak-attack against the Second Amendment.
What is truly startling about this story is the way it has been totally ignored by the rest of the media. Compare the media's current silence with what happened during the 2000 presidential campaign when then NRA Vice-President (and GOP activist) Kayne Robinson told a group of rights supporters in California that electing Bush would mean "we'll have a president where we work out of their office, unbelievably friendly relations."

I’ve heard this kind of talk before and it bothers me. If it ever comes down to facing federal troups, it will not be faceless thugs, it will be 18 year old kids who volunteered to serve our country.
That and they will be backed up by the force of the US military. You will either die in a stand up fight or slink around and set bombs to kill young men and women who think they are defending the country.
It sounds inspiring but the reality really sucks.

I’ve a couple of .45 pistols kicking around, but my carry gun (whenever I’m beyond the reach to a carbine) is a USPc .40, and I’ll carry on with it.
I really doubt that the army is going to obey any command that Obama decrees against the American people. I’m guessing the Secret Service will take care of him if he ever tries it.
You may be right that he plans to wait until (God forbid) his second term, but make no mistake about it. One of the things on Obama's agenda is to get rid of the second amendment altogether.
I’m not sure things are that simple.
I sat outside of LA during the Rodney King riots with a couple of battalions of Marines, we were one order away from moving against the American people. I didn’t hear anyone talking about not obeying orders.
I heard from the snipers later, that they had been moved into the city and they had intervened in areas where public safety vehicles were being fired upon.
I doubt anything will happen. The sheeple have been trained to comply and obey all LE, showing our papers within 100 miles of the border, harassed when we drive by endless checkpoints, stripping almost to underwear, removing jewelry and shoes, and/or being radiated when we fly. No one fought back then and almost no one will be fighting back when the full occupation is in swing.
Or the few who do will be snuffed out quickly by the jackboots, Waco, Ruby Ridge, etc-style.

It should bother you, I can assure you it bothers the OP too. The fact we have come to a point in this country that such a thought would even enter our minds illustrates the seriousness of the present threat to our liberties.

A “considerable number” is nothing compared to tens of millions of armed Americans. They’d have to call in the air force against us or they’d end up holed up in a few cities like Gaddafi’s crew.

They’re over 18, as you said, which means they should know the basics of the Constitution, and they swore an oath to uphold it. If they go against the citizens to strip us of our rights, they should know damn well what they are doing, and they’ll deserve no sympathy, no matter how young they are.

Used to think the same about Law Enforcement, but N.O.P.D. behavior during Katrina (ala gun confiscation) changed my mind.
I do not want violence of any kind to visit our America... I am willing to die for my Nation... and it will NOT be my Nation that violates the Second Amendment... “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”. Just what are you going to do if they come for your guns? I truly want to know????

TPD wouldn’t even arrest the illegal alien screaming, chanting, offspring, chained to desks and disrupting, harassing, and intimidating the school board here in Tucson the other night. La Raza won because the police chief is Hispanic. Had those been tea partiers, all would have been tossed on the ground, beaten, and hauled to jail or renditioned.
There is no country anymore, just radicals with their greedy paws out, and the union cops enabling them.
