Ditto here. Run Baby Run by Cruz was the book that I had just finished reading when I found a gospel tract and prayed the prayer on it to find saving faith in the Lord Jesus. 1974.

He’s not your typical megachurch guy. He was a small pastor called to minister to NYC, and his emphasis was always personal holiness and being sold out to God. He tells his story in The Cross and the Switchblade, where he went to the ghetto and ministered to gang leaders.

Back in the late 70’s I visited a little waterfront cabin at Possum Kingdom lake in Texas. David Wilkerson owned that house and it was there where he fasted and prayed and had a great Vision of America on fire. David invited Mike Evans and some of the Bnei Yeshua Jewish believers to use it as a retreat, and there was much discussion of the Restoration of Israel as the key to the Redemption, and that, failing that, Judgment would fall on us. I believe that David had struggled with that Vision and its interpretation in the years since. He proposed several interpretations but he felt it very deeply, and could not lay it down. Texas is on fire. The fire has surrounded Possum Kingdom Lake and it is burning as I write. I don’t know why David Wilkerson was there, I don’t know if he was trying to go back to the lake house to finish the vision but there is a prophecy unfolding here. It is late,and there is no time to lose; as Kefa (Peter) said on the festival of Shavuot: Save yourselves from this perverse generation!’ You must move up to higher ground. What is that higher ground? It is Torah. And Yeshua. ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lords house shall be established over all the mountains and exalted over the hills and all the Nations shall flow into it. And many shall say, Come let us go up to the Mountain of the Lord, to the House of the God of Jacob, and He will teach us of His Ways, And we will walk in His paths: For out of Zion shall go forth the Torah and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.’-Isaiah 2:2-3

i had a dream 3 weeks ago but wasn’t sure if i should post the dream.
i was standing near a mountain and gazed into the night sky..
..as i centered my head, The Lord was standing in front of me..facing my direction.
at first i smiled as i was so happy to see Him! my cheeks felt flushed and tight by smiling so much....but i noticed The Lord had a message, something He wanted to tell me.
i began to bow my head but couldn’t contain the overwhelming joy i had being near Him..
when i had my head down the word NEWS entered my mind as though telepathicly..
the letters then jumbled in my mind and looked liked the topic heading. NEWS

i immediately began to lift my head and the sky began to darken..
then suddenly what resembled ember began to fall out of the sky.
the ‘ ember ‘ began to almost fall as much as a blizzards worth..
The Lord was still there with me and i wasn’t scared.
very shortly after there was an almost immediate reddish glow lighting the once pitch black sky..

Dearly Beloved:
DO YOU STILL BELIEVE?
I had an unusual experience while in meditation with the Lord. His still, small voice asked me, “David, do you still believe?”
“Do you still believe I love you unconditionally? That you are being led by my Holy Spirit? That I bottle every tear you shed? That you are right now—in this place, in this very hour—in my perfect will?
“Do you still believe all things work together for good to them that love me? That I hear your prayers, even when you have no audible words to express them? Even when all seems dark and you are overwhelmed? Even when fear lays hold of your mind and soul? Even when it seems I have shut the heavens to you?
“David, do you still believe I feed all living things: the fish of the sea, the cattle, the fowl, all creeping things? Do you still believe I count every hair on your head—that I take note of every fallen bird on the face of the earth? Do you truly believe that?
“Do you still believe—even when death comes to your loved ones? Do you still believe what you have testified: that I give comfort and strength to face even the grave?
“Do you still believe I love you—that I forgive all your past sins, present sins and even all future sins if you will rest and trust in me? Do you believe I understand when Satan sends his messengers against you to implant doubts, lies, fears, blasphemies, despair?
“Do you still believe you are in the palm of my hand—that you are more precious than gold to your Savior? That eternal life is your future—that there is no power that can pluck you out of my hand? That I still am touched by every infirmity and affliction you endure? Do you still believe these things are true?”
My answer is emphatically, “YES! Yes, Lord, I still believe it all and more—much more!”
Read all of Psalm 103. Ask yourself, “Do I still believe it? All of it?” Beloved, keep yourself in the powerful, mighty, wondrous love of God.

To hear him preach was like nothing else in this world. It was the very opposite of bombastic. It was totally humble, every word ringing with emotion, straight from the heart. I will miss him so much. As he used to say about others in rare instances, “God was all over him.” Thank you, Pastor Dave, for all you have given us.
