While on the subject, read the following. Can anyone point out if any of these statements are wrong. Been prepping myself and found this information online. Wonder if these points are true at all. All concerning the human body and supplements with respect to radiation.

Iron can prevent the uptake of plutonium.
Calcium can prevent the uptake of strontium.
Potassium can prevent the uptake of cesium.

My hubby SirKit is questioning those statements. One thing he did mention is that potassium could be lethal at high doses. The best thing is not to breathe or eat the radioactive materials in the first place, because the danger comes from the materials getting into your body. Wear masks, stay inside with filtered air, don't eat foods that could have taken in the radioactive elements, etc. The firemen at Fukushima were wearing masks to keep the plutonium from getting into their lungs. That's the nasty stuff that can cause lung cancer down the road.

SirKit mentioned that there are some chelation therapies that are used to reduce heavy metals in the body, but he doesn't know about the nuclear materials.

I don’t know about the Iron or the Potassium but I looked in my Adelle Davis books and she did recommend the calcium for the strontium.

It is more important if you are low on your calcium intake, than if you don’t have a deficiency. Another of my books also recommended apples for their pectin. Not sure about that, but it wouldn’t hurt and be good for you either way.

I think the main principle is that these radiation related elements are picked up by your body IF you are deficient in the element that is like them. Like iodine for the thyroid instead of the radioactive element iodine.

Hope this helps.
