PARIS France's foreign ministry says leading European nations have summoned Syrian ambassadors across the continent to condemn recent violence in the Middle Eastern country.
The ministry summoned ambassador Lamia Chakkour to express France's "firm condemnation of the escalation of the repression by Syrian authorities against the population."
It said Wednesday that France had carried out the diplomatic action in co-ordination with Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain.
France called on Syria to respect its international obligations on human rights.

Maybe the EU should meet them at a meeting of the UN Civil Rights Commission of which Syria is now a member? Maybe they could present them with a letter of “concern” or something effective like that?
