A transgender woman was beaten by two women in a Maryland McDonalds after using the restaurant's women's bathroom. Chrissy Polis said that no employees intervened when the women began pulling her by the hair, throwing her to the floor, and kicking her repeatedly. The incident was recorded on tape, and police have arrested the young women. Transgender activists have scheduled a rally tonight outside of the McDonalds where the incident occurred to show support for the victim.
"This is precisely the kind of hatred and bigotry that transgender women and men deal with on a daily basis," said Caroline Temmerand of the GLBT Community Center of Central Maryland.
A 2011 national report on transgender Americans found that 53% of respondents "reported being verbally harassed or disrespected in a place of public accommodation," with 3% of respondents reporting physical assault in a retail store and 2% reporting assault in a hotel or restaurant.
Earlier this month, the Maryland state Senate killed a bill, called the Gender Identity Anti-Discrimination Act, which would have outlawed discrimination against trans people in housing, employment, and public accommodation.
There are currently 11 states with hate crime laws which protect people victimized on the basis of gender identity or expression. In 2009, President Obama signed the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act in the FY2010 Defense Authorization Bill, which was the first federal law to recognize and provide civil rights protections for transgender people.
I wonder if the Bathroom Attendant noticed anything funny.
After careful consideration and squinting eyes because of the florescent bathroom lighting, the same guy would think he was being punked by Ashton Kutcher.
I have no clue what your answer means, but I thank you for it.
Didn't mean to offend.
“That’s one ugly cleaning woman. They should call out a warning before they come in to clean the please, in case someone is inside using the restroom.”
Chrissy Polis is prettier, at least in that picture, than the sex-changing guy at work. We generally look him straight in the eye, or at least straight in the mascara, and ignore his biggish b-cups. So if this Missy Chrissy someday bellied up to a urinal beside me, in a public bathroom near you, I might jump a little, at first, but I’d manage not to piss on my hand.
Didn't mean to offend.
No offense taken and no problem. Anyway with a name like "Kickass Conservative",\ I would not expect you to be someone who is overly concerned with political correctness. :-)
Thank you for your answer.
Thank you for your answer.
Ha Ha. Thank you for your reply.
When dealing with people who share my Conservative views, I think of a line from the movie Harvey. It is one of my favorites, “You can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant”.
Although many of us here on FR may disagree on different topics, I strive to be pleasant. Whatever our views, I understand that I could never find a group of such well informed and intelligent people to discuss the issues of the day. I know everyone here sincerely cares about our wonderful Country and the welfare of our fellow Citizens.
When it comes to dealing with Liberals, I can be oh so smart, but I prefer sarcastic. They are all lunatics IMHO and must be treated as such.
I guess that’s why he got beat up. The story indicated the black girl beat him because of jealousy and had nothing to do with her detecting she was a boy and in the women’s room.

Thank you for being pleasant, even when you disagree with someone.
Not everyone here does that.
Yes. Just like you said earlier about "no hate crime, just crime".
Just people who think and live like animals acting like animals.
It is sad that there are people who think and live and act like this.
Also, I get upset when I read here on this forum some otherwise intelligent and upstanding conservative people cheering on this person's beating because of how he somehow deserved it for being transgender.
Yes, if he was guitly of breaking the law or harassing a woman, he should be punished for it.
But this person did not deserve to be attacked because of who he is or how he was dressed or whatever transgender medicines or surgery he had.
To say he deserved this attack for being living like he was living is to support what the attackers did. I will not support crime, not even against someone whom I do not care for or even have strong nehgative feelings about.
Either we all have the same rights or none of us do.
Amen.
