Is anyone else enjoying the Donald Trump show as much as I am? Im not talking about NBCs Celebrity Apprentice (which in any case is less entertaining since Gary Busey got whacked). Im talking about the show where His Donald-ness drops by every conceivable televised news outlet and says things that you are absolutely not supposed to say, leaving his liberal interlocutors in fits of sputtering rage and apoplexia. Some of the unspeakable things the Donald has dared to speak include:
1) China is ripping us off. No question about that, is there? The Middle Kingdom has long manipulated its currency (the yuan) to the detriment of U.S. manufacturers, a de facto trade war which U.S. officials have often ignored because we need China to finance our debt (to fund ObamaCare and other socialist travesties because, you know, we dont actually have the money). Recently a bipartisan congressional delegation led by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid met with Chinese leaders to broach this exact issue, discreetly, no doubt, and ever-so politely. Trump calls it a disgrace and promises to retaliate in kind.
2) The Libya war is a disaster. Trump wants to know, and hes not the only one: What are we doing in Libya? Who are the rebels we are supporting? Are they any better than Gaddafi? The confused and confusing kinetic military action in Libya is exactly what one would expect from a commander-in-chief with a conflicted view of Americas role in the world, a reflexive antagonism towards our military, and a foolish fetish for international consensus. Trumps take? Im only interested in Libya if we take the oil. Be still my heart.
3) Obama has not produced his original, long-form birth certificate. Talk about an inconvenient truth!

One thing’s for sure, no matter where this goes: there’s going to be another Trump book coming. Maybe, ‘The Art of the Squeal - Driving the Elitist Pig-Pen Hog Wild’. Title still needs work, maybe.
It sort of begs the question, who exactly has deemed the above topics “unspeakable”? More precisely, why do we allow the media itself to dictate exactly what’s a conversational “third rail”? To paraphrase a famous news commentator, the truth lies within ourselves.
China is essentially financing Americans to buy their product. If China was a business its like giving your customers money to buy product that you make
Also, what in the H is the chorus “beware! beware! Stay away from the birther question! turn back!”
I mean, has there ever been a more conspicuous *warning*-—and from the (sic) right?
Brit Hume, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Mark Levine??
What in Hades name is WRONG about asking to reconcile the legion of gaps, questions and contradictions about the most powerful man in the world—that is shaping our world before our eyes?
if anything, china are loan sharks or predator lenders. Trump talk about China manipulating their currency, well so does US as well. In fact US is manipulating it much more than China. China is simply trying to keep their currency exchange stable, but every time US manipulating their currency down, China have to print more YUAN to buy up USD to keep it at stable parity
It is an interesting question, isn’t it?
Of course none of them will ask Trump, because he will whack ‘em like he did that idiot Elliot Spitzer...
The other thing Trump brings up is that we should just take the d****** oil. We fought for it, it’s ours.
Store credit? The Chinese must not be as good at business as their reputation says. I’ve never heard of a store that would give anywhere near the credit they have.
They will look like cowards and dunderheads for not getting it long ago. And they know it now.
ME.
At one time he was just amusing. Now he is doing the Lords work, asking the questions the other scaredy cats won't ask.
I still don't expect to vote for him; however if he gets the Republican Nomination then he gets my vote.
He’s putting on a good show but he’s no conservative.
Let him do his work in exposing Obama.
We can argue his candidacy merits after—hopefully amid much sputtering, denial and backtracking amid the Obama camp in full exposure that will mortally wound them.
You are right. I’m keeping my criticism of him low-key for now. Just want to say: Trump is no conservative.
Trump = Giuliani?
I don’t know. Giuliani did hold elected office and did spend a lot of his career going after criminals.
I mean, I see you’re point. They are very similar on social issues.
But I think for all Trump’s “business expertise” that Giuliani is more of a true free market booster than Trump.
Giuliani did campaign against government spending and deficits.
Trump doesn’t say a word about that stuff other than his desire to make the Chinese and Arabs “pay their fair share”.
So I don’t know. On the question of “who is more conservative”, although the true answer is “neither”, I think Giuliani wins the “more”.
I think Giuliani has more conviction than Trump; Trump’s “conservatism” is shallow. My comment was more focused though on that the 2007 polls had Rudy the favorite (as well as Hillary!, on the ‘rat side)... and look where that led. Trump is fulfilling a need to make the NBC issue viable; he is getting more than 15 minutes of fame, and I hope his fading away will time well, segueing into more conservative candidates.
I see. A comparison of poll standings at the two points in time.
I hope you’re right about that. I hope Trump fades as fast as Giuliani faded.
But what scares me is that he won’t fade. That he’s Ross Perot ‘12.
Scares me too...
But comforted by the thought that when others commit, they will take the spotlight leaving Trump in the dust.
