Wasn’t this covered already? The station is right next to the airport so it can nail people returning rental cars.

Its odd that the Tribune did an article on the price of gas today and published a picture that doesn’t relate or offer proof.

Most people were finding it hard to believe that Obama’s plan to wreck domestic oil production was true.
But the speculators didn't.

The Fed says high unemployment will stabilize prices soon! It’s simple supply and demand. If you can’t increase supply, reduce demand. More broke people lowers demand. Simple.

And its spring-break in Orlando too. Everything is packed, hotels, restaurants, parks - I see no recession at all there.

The station is right next to the airport so it can nail people returning rental cars. Yep, and it's one of the few there, so there's not a lot of competition for those in a hurry to catch their flights. And they don't need to rely on a loyal customer base, since the vast majority of their customers are on their way out of town by air and are likely never to be heard from again. The station has ALWAYS had prices much higher than others in the Orlando area.

This is a standard scam in Orlando. Locals know better. Go several miles north of the airport and you can find some of the lowest gas prices in Florida. (Damning with faint praise.)

I always fill up my rentals some distance from the airport. Most rentals get about 20 mpg, so about 10 miles away only uses half a gallon... not enough to register below Full on the fuel gauge.
The location of this service station is such that there's not much of a local customer base... just travelers from out of town returning to the airport.

Is this that one gas station near the Orlando airport that always charges almost a buck more than any other station in Florida, simply because it is the only gas station before you turn in your rental car?

I always fill up my rentals some distance from the airport. Most rentals get about 20 mpg, so about 10 miles away only uses half a gallon I rented a car in Vegas last year, and the "fine print" on the contract said that if you returned the car with a full tank of gas after filling up, you had to show them a receipt indicating the station was within 10 miles of the airport.
Don't know if that's universal, but there are a lot of hidden fees and taxes around...

Yes..Earlier this month, I drove our SUV from MI to Orlando loaded with the luggage while my wife and daughter flew. I stopped at this station after dropping them off for their return flight. I took one look at the price on the pump and fuelled up elsewhere...
There’s a station right off of 4 near Disney that charges at least a buck a gallon over the market rate. You really need to be careful filling up near Disney and the airport.

the "fine print" on the contract said that if you returned the car with a full tank of gas after filling up, you had to show them a receipt indicating the station was within 10 miles of the airport.Within 10 miles is usually fairly easy to do. Don't you just hate it when you pick up a rental and find that the fuel gauge is just sitting on "F", and you know there're a couple of gallons less than full that don't register? Also, some auto brands have more accurate fuel gauges than others. It used to be that GM cars had about 1/3 of a tank left when the fuel gauge was on 1/2. The Fords I've been in have had a much better linear relationship between the actual gasoline left and what was showing on the gauge.

Thanks for the clue. Fill up where it’s cheap, then top it off with a gallon or two outside the airport, and be sure to keep the receipt.
