My guess is that *any* Certificates of Live Birth issued in recent years have had the language updated to “acceptable modern usage” — from “White” and “African” to “Caucasian” and “Black” — even if the original birth certificate used other terms.

"African" would not have been used in any time or place. Numerous races live in Africa in the millions. White, Hispanic (if you call that a race), Asian, negroid, Semitic and others.

I misspoke, I meant on the COLB it was probably changed from Negro (or whatever was on original certificates) to African, just as it probably originally said “White” and now says “Caucasian.” Since the COLB is just an “abstract” they could easily decide to “update” the terminology.
