I misspoke, I meant on the COLB it was probably changed from Negro (or whatever was on original certificates) to African, just as it probably originally said “White” and now says “Caucasian.” Since the COLB is just an “abstract” they could easily decide to “update” the terminology.
I’m sorry that doesn’t make sense. “African” would still be meaningless no matter what era we’re talking about. I’ll be glad to admit I’m wrong about that if a legit BC is found that has “African” on it or an updated guidebook for the ‘70s like the one posted for the ‘60s.
