Monumental Attack Against Texas Conservatives
The Patriot Statesman ^ | 4-22-2011 | Donna Garner

The House Redistricting Committee map plan (a.k.a., Solomons’ map) is a monumental attack that is meant to silence conservative voices in Texas for the next ten years to come.

The Solomons’ map eviscerates the conservatives, has nine pairings, and seven open seats. None of the House Redistricting Committee maps matches the message that conservative voters so clearly sent on Nov. 2010.

Even though Texans voted into office a supermajority of Republicans (mostly conservatives), the House Redistricting Committee map actually shapes some districts so that Democrats could more readily win rather than conservative Republicans who are in the Legislature right now.

Ironically enough, Rep. Burt Solomons (chair of the House Redistricting Committee) is a Republican appointed by Republican Speaker Joe Straus!

Please listen to this brief video in which Rep. Wayne Christian interviews Joe Nixon and his fellow attorney Trey Trainor. Nixon and Trainor are considered to be the best redistricting map experts in the entire United states and are authorities on the Voting Rights Act (VRA).

Nixon was the former Texas legislator who authored the tort reform legislation that has led to Texas being ranked #1 as the most business-friendly state in the United States.

It could happen because conservatives don’t control the GOP. Remember this when the next McCain is nominated and someone is yelling at you about how you “must” vote for him.

The dems tried this in Virginia too.

Gov. McDonald (R) vetoed it.

So who - by name as an assistant or as the “working committee” of lobbyists/unionists/liberals/democrats/RINO’s - actually “did” this TX markup of districts?

Yes, but it’s not the Dems doing it this time, it’s the RINO Republican Speaker. Will the RINO governor veto it?

Nothing any of us can do about this but Texans. And not much time for them to act.

Hey, in Virginia "the dems tried this", but in Texas this is republicans giving away the store to the dems!

What do they put in the water down there?

“Ironically enough, Rep. Burt Solomons (chair of the House Redistricting Committee) is a Republican appointed by Republican Speaker Joe Straus! “

Are they originally from New Jersey? Here in the garbage Garden State, its a regular occurrence for Republicans to toady up to Democrats. As a matter of fact, Democrats in New Jersey don't need footstools, they just use the Republicans.

No clue. I have family in ElPaso and they want OUT.

Too much going on down there from massive illegal migration, to Mexican children going to US schools and no one says squat, to the property taxes going way up and the biggest problem: No good Italian restaurants.

That’s a hell on earth for a NYer.

No "good" Italian restaurants?

Not even a Macaroni Grill? (Not that it's good but it's passable ~ the roasted chickens are good and tasty).

THE GRASSROOTS TEXANS NETWORK

Fellow Grassroots Texans:

Things are flying fast and furious in the Redistricting Shuffle.

By now, you've likely received multiple messages on the best map to support. It appears that different conservatives are backing different maps drawn up by Joe Nixon (aka "the Nixon Maps"). Things are changing constantly, and it's nearly impossible to keep up. There does not appear to be any clear consensus at this time as to one single map, though we are hearing that any one of the Nixon Maps would be a dramatic improvement over the Solomons Map...

What do they put in the water down there?

Maybe the Mexicans put something in there to get politicians to help them recolonize the state.

“Not even a Macaroni Grill?”

GAK! About as Italian as Olive Garden.

I’m talking regional Italian specialities with Squid and fish and Octopus. Hot peppers that make you cry and Italian meats and sausages to drool for.

~And the pastry.

“If GOP controls Texas how cold this happen?”

Because Texas ‘conservatives’ WANTED this. They had a choice as to who to make House speaker - a guy (former Speaker) who teamed with the Dems last session to shoot down key conservative issues, or a real conservative.

Sorry to say, but the large majority of House members (which means MANY, MANY conservatives) voted for this jerk and I hope they enjoy being penciled out now.

The Comanche Indians pretty much kept Tejas DECOLONIZED during all the years of Spanish rule. Then came the Mexicans ~ a few of them ~ now referred to as Tejanos.

The big deal that beat the Comanche involved white boys from the Souf' but it took them several decades to bring all the territory to a state of peace sufficient for full colonization.

The Mexicans probably think they used to own Texas but lack of full time occupancy ruins their claim.

Sorry ~ can't help you there. Pastry and pasta are outside my diet limits. Some of the sausages are too due to the fillers.

On the other hand, the processed meats and the spices are all good.

My youngest figured out that he had a problem with tomatoes ~ so he's been targeting non-tomatoed Italian stuff ~ and it exists. Soups, sauces, ways to prepare meat. We'll see how that turns out.

Thanks for the ping, Tol, but am I missing something? I don’t see a link to the TTC here.
