I think you are exactly right. At this point it goes from being a crime to being a potential “hate crime” because there is no way in the world they would have charged the perps with a hate crime just for beating a white lady. But beating a transgendered person? That takes it to a whole different level.

Regardless, if McDonalds says they have no role in protecting patrons who come in to their restaurants, you can be my family and I won’t be the only ones avoiding McDonalds.
