I find it strange that Trump didn't have the same insight that we did and I find it hard to believe that anyone who claims to be a Conservative would donate to politicians who are clearly opposed to the Conservative philosophy.

I think you would agree that owning a dry cleaning business in Podunk, VA makes it a bit easier to be holier than Trump who plays in a much bigger arena with infinitely larger stakes. I don't expect you needed Webb or Warner's help on anything or else you might have taken a much different approach....

Trump is a phony and a fraud.

Pandering to conservatives and lying through his teeth.

I think you would agree that standing by principles is the main issue here. If Trump is willing to sell-out for a buck, then what else would he sell-out for if he ever makes it into office?

And, BTW, we needed Webb and Warner to oppose the Marxist agenda of Barack Obama. The legislation they voted "yes" on has been hurting our business and costing us money. Do you honestly believe that if we had donated money to them that it would have changed their votes and caused them to stand against anything that hurt our business? I know better than to believe that. I also know several other business owners who did donate to tham and got steamrolled by the Obama agenda anyway.

Trump should have known that people like Dingy Harry would vote anti-business/pro-socialist no matter how much money CEOs throw at them. If Trump is so naive, he shouldn't be anywhere near a political office.

"Donald Trump, the billionaire White House waters-tester...gave $2,400 in 2009 to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid..."

Maybe he wanted an incompetent fool to run things for the Dems?

Obviously, it's going to be tough to claim he's in any way sympathetic to the Tea Party, since he helped the opponents of Angle and Rubio.

NEED TO DESTROY OBUMMER FIRST FOR HERE TO RUN.

I don't see how that is bad thing even if that were Trump's only objective.

I wouldn't expect Obama to leave quietly. A primary challenge by Hillary would be brutal for both her and Obama.

BTW, you just lumped me in with someone who used the word “fool”. I didn’t use it, but you’re adding me just the same.
Not much difference in the scenarios is there.

This is getting depressing.

So many supposedly conservative FReepers, salivating at the chance of taking down Obama, are going to encourage Trump to run, which he will do on the GOP ticket just like Bloomberg did.

That will leave us with far-left Obama versus almost-as-far-left Trump (see How Conservative is Trump?). Either way, we loose! For the love of all that is good, holy and free, pull your supposedly conservative heads out of your rear ends!

It would seem that, for some anyway, stopping Donald Trump is more important than getting rid of the usurper Hussein Obama. I'm no fan of 'the Donald' in any sense of the word but I thought the primary goal was to rid the country of the Emperor wannabe! Silly me. Just give the country another loser Juan McCain in the form of Mitt 'Obamacare Lite' Romney or the Arkansas 'Dem Lite' Huckster and watch 'em lose big time. My tag line says it best.....

Curious how some of the same FReepers who were so outraged over Palin’s loyalty to McCain are so quick to dismiss Trump’s contributions to some of the most liberal Dems as just the cost of doing business.

For those of you who have never been in business....giving to both parties is common....it’s called hedging your bets and is smart business. For the fools here on FR to question Trump on this issue shows how little they know about the real world!

As others have already mentioned, this is common business practice in the corporate world. I am involved in a corporate PAC, and as distateful as it may seem, sometimes you have to give to your political opponents in order to affect legislation.

I would bet that the donations to Reid were more due to the Trump real estate ventures in Las Vegas, than because Trump thought Harry was a swell guy.

Conservative purity uber alles!

Never vote for Trump. Instead, vote for the best conservative candidate...wait, there are no conservative candidates.
