Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill Monday that would have required presidential candidates to provide their birth certificates to appear on the ballot, and another that would have allowed guns to be carried on school grounds.

GOP?
Former Attorney General (i.e., lawyer with Bar Association allegiance)?
Has priorities greater than upholding the U.S. Constitution?
“that Brewer argued against her own action?”
This is ALL about protecting Obama.
That’s how it is in Obamaworld. Judges rely on twittering and citizens have no standing. Up is down, war is peace, some are more equal than others, some get healthcare waivers, some get to keep their car dealership some don’t.
Next thing you know we’ll have political prisoners thrown in jail for asking to have proof that the commander in chief is a natural born citizen. Oh wait, we already do.
We’ll have talk show hosts write books about tyranny and then turn a blind eye when a decorated military doctor sits in prison. Only some parts of the Constitution matter.
You have to follow the law. They don’t. Hey, Boehner takes his word for it. Good enough for him and Jan Brewer.
We’ve been living in a banana republic since 2008.
This is sheer fear of the media. After what’s happened with Trump, does anybody really think the people give a rat’s patootie whether the media “ridicules” Arizona? When you’ve got something like 90% of the public saying there should be a law like this one?
This is CYA for Brewer. Her excuse doesn’t even make sense, since it actually gives the reason she should have SIGNED it - since it allows the SOS to be held accountable, by any legal resident, to both state law and the US Constitution. If she doesn’t want the SOS to be too powerful, then this was the law that would have done what she says she wanted. And if she spoke to Carl Seel at any point she would know that. There is NO reason, other than CYA, for her to veto this bill.
What can we do to encourage the legislature to override her veto?
POTD?
I have noticed on Brewer’s wall you cannot start your own thread as you can on some others. Situations like that I find a thread she started and make my opinions known there in the comments. If I cannot find a thread on the issue, I just post my opinion as a comment (even though off topic) on their most recent post. :)
Vewy interwesting....
What Fiesta Bowl fiasco? Hate to show my ignorance, but I’m not aware of what you’re talking about.
Very sad.
Then who, law or not, is going to verify with a copy of the Long Form Birth Certificate, . who is going to 'check' this before a presidential candidate gets on the ballot? I ask who? Please, will someone at the state level check and see this is done, or do we just 'trust' that the DNC will do it for us? . . If not the SOS, whom?
Nice try, but once the blood is in the water it’s over.
Thanks for reproducing those quotes, Red. Her remarks show that Brewer, for whatever reason, has crossed over to the other side and cannot be trusted.
One of the benefits of what Trump has done, and Orly Taitz with the SS # fiasco on CNN recently... the general population is getting even more knowledgeable a bit more on Zero’s shenanigans.
I’ve also noticed a coordinated attack on Trump as one could predict, and an upswing on the Obots in many forums intent on dumbing everyone down again. But people love a mystery, intrigue, and will won’t more info on Zero.
Even if state government members are threatened and no eligibility verification bills go through, there’s going to be a real civilian public demand for accountability, and the media calling everyone “crazy” is not going to hold up until fall 2011. It’s gonna get a whole lot more intense.
Jan, you had a chance to "Do your own job" and you failed. From this day forward she has no credibility on calling out 0bama when she's just as negligent as he is.
Why, nothing.
(RINO ain't just a river in Egypt)
Just curious. Would you accept Obama’s circumcision or baptismal certificates if that’s all he had?
