Movie is about unit of Soviet paratroopers left behind to defend a hill in Afghanistan on the very end of the war.

The movie was somewhat ok but the ending battle in which the position was essentially overun was hoakie. Someone forgot to tell the director that massed frontal charge in daylight against fully automatic weapons is suicide.

An OK movie.
Too bad - it could have been great from the Soviet perspective on the war in Afghanistan.
Soviet paratroopers fought pretty hard and had some good victories. They were some of the best units the soviet had in country.
They needed some afghan war vets on the set to tell the director when things got too silly.

Someone should have mentioned that to Stalin earlier too...

I’d also like to see a Brest Fortress movie about how the Poles defended it, two years earlier, against the Germans for four days, before the Soviet invasion from the East forced them to abandon it.

The movie has some funny lines, like "You guys did a major f-up."
and it has:
Snow White.
LOL.

I thought this movie was as stupid as the majority of them, IMHO.

IMHO, that movie is one crappy stuff. A Russian kind of Hollywood’s ‘Pearl Harbour’.

Id also like to see a Brest Fortress movie about how the Poles defended it. Well, you need to email someone (Wajda?) on this.

I saw this movie. It is a little like “Full Metal Jacket”.
It wasnt bad, not great. It was good to see the Russian point of view.
I give it Three AK47s out of five.
