"He said, 'Could you get off your bike please?' " she told The Post.
"I said, 'Why?' He said, 'You're not allowed to carry a purse on your handlebars.' I thought he was joking."
Lecomte du Nouy, who had been riding down Columbus Avenue at West 100th Street on Monday at 3 p.m. en route to pick up her 4-year-old daughter at nursery school, said she nearly lost her balance when the cop asked for her driver's license.
"He gets out his little notepad and starts writing things down," she said. "Then I realized he's writing a ticket. I still thought it was a joke."
When she protested, she said the officer comforted her by adding, "Don't worry, you can go to court. The judges always throw these out."

The City needs the money.
My last ticket (25 years ago) was a warning I got in a school zone. The sheriff deputy said I was going 32 in a 30, even though I was keeping the same distance from the car in front of me. I told him my speedometer was broken and showed him the greasy red rag on the seat next to me, and told him I was on the way to the dealer [which I was] to get the replacement which had to be ordered.
I drive a van with big telephone numbers on the side. Believe me, if I disregard any law, people will call in and let the owner know. That alone makes me very conscious of my driving. I come to a total stop at stop signs, and don't speed when I drive that van. Put it this way, I learned that the first day I was speeding on a freeway on the way home.
Not just NY. Cops all over the country are just like this.
L.A. is strapped for cash. So, they had a motorcycle cop sitting at intersections writing tickets when pedestrians crossed the street on a "Don't Walk" signal.
“One of my bucket list items is to get a speeding ticket...on my bicycle.”
I have no idea what a bucket list is but i got a ticket on my bicycle when I was 8 years old for reckless driving and speeding for folding papers going downhill at 45 in a 25.
“I carry everything from wine to diapers.”
If you didn’t take the wine maybe you wouldn’t need a change of diapers!
I can’t wait for the liberals to finally perfect human nature so leave can us the ______ alone. Of course, by then we’ll have live in a clear plastic bubble: stoned on medical marijuana and fitted with a politically correct anal probe to monitor our vital signs.
I will be forced to burst your bubble about the wonderful and benevolent nature of the Texas DOT. Many of you tax payers continue to vote to support and fund these criminal organizations like the Texas DOT because you just don't know the truth. That's not your fault. But now you will know so no excuses from here on out:
Texas and Oklahoma both have a 24000 pound gvw threshold for cdl. The Federal is 10000 pounds but the State limits are enforced State by State. BUT if you drive through Texas with Oklahoma tags pulling a commercial trailor or generator the Texas DOT will stop and weigh you. They will hold you to the Federal 10000 pound thresh-hold because you have Oklahoma plates. So tell me. Is this about safety??? Are these wonderful defenders of freedom in the TX DOT making the world safe for nuns and children? Are they runing a criminal enterprise in your name? Do you support the 500 dollar fines in your name? Do you believe that's the right thing to do? Stealing from passing motorist is being done in your name by the State of Texas. Does that make you proud? Does that instill confidence that as long as you are doing nothing wrong you don't have to fear your government? Do you still want to get preachy? 500 bucks. That money is transfered from productive members of society to the non productive at the point of a gun in your name. Does that make you feel proud?
That's just one example of many. The only reason this stuff goes on in all fifty States is because people like you give the government unwarranted prestige and because it is not happening to you. Search and seizure and probable cause mean NOTHING. Yet “you” people believe the government is essentially benevolent, but with a few bad apples. So you turn a blind eye. You continue to fund it and vote “responsibly”. You are funding a criminal enterprise.
So now you know. That's one example, I have lots more. No more excuses. Now you know.
Cop filling his ticket quota for the month.
Well, you had replied to #25, so I clicked on the links on that reply. That is why your post made me curious. Yes, I know the TX DPS weight boys stop a lot of trucks, but didn’t know they use the federal limit when you have different plates.
Just let that roll around in your head for a few minutes......
Yes, and I got those when I was young and stupid. My last ticket that cost me $$$s, was in my 1975 Monte Carlo when it was almost new. My job requires me to take defensive driving every two years, so I really try to observe the laws.
The government is now a enormous union run criminal enterprise,
I agree with you on that statement. Look at the trash we have in DC and many large cities.
Maybe the 4 year old has a bike at school and they ride home together.
Well, I didn’t look at all the replies on this thread, but this should really tick you off.
America Moving Towards Abolishment of Electoral College

If the sheeple get rid of the Electorial College the middle States will have another reason to succede.
You mean secede?
Spelling doesn’t count on Blackberry. Screens too small. Buttons too small.
She’s just being unreasonable. After all, how’s a corrupt judge going to obtain largess if everyone stops driving cars? Whiskey money don’t grow on trees, ya know.
Before number one, consider this: There was probably nothing wrong with your light when you were first stopped. Why do you think they carry those big, heavy flashlights? To bust out peoples’ taillights so they can have an excuse to pull you over for no reason.
