WASHINGTON The United States, Britain and France are pledging to keep up the military campaign in Libya until leader Moammar Gadhafi leaves, a display of unity despite European complaints about the low-profile U.S. role.
In a joint declaration, President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy say they will not stop the campaign and will "remain united." Writing in a newspaper opinion piece, the three leaders said their mandate under a United Nations Security Council resolution is to protect civilians in Libya.
"It is not to remove Gadhafi by force," they wrote. The declaration will be published in Friday's editions of the International Herald Tribune, Le Figaro and the Times of London.
The joint piece comes as French and British officials have been calling for more strikes by their NATO allies against Gadhafi forces.
The carefully worded declaration denounces Gadhafi and says: "It is impossible to imagine a future for Libya with Gadhafi in power."

fyi
What’s this low profile cr**. We’re running 1/3 of the missions + I’m sure we have plenty of advisors and spies on the ground. You can’[t run missions without them.
Days not weeks.......
The no fly zone leaving no rock able to get off the ground. Still will not put back bone in the ragtags. The population will kill them shortly.
We can’t have the Europeans buying oil from our suppliers, can we? gas is still gonna hit $5/gallon I bet.

The UN Security Council resolution is as such. But, no mention of their intentions or aims - which expressed by actions are clearly different.
So, what started as a "no-fly zone" has morphed into a policy of regime change.
Great. Next up, watch for the American ground troops we were told would never enter Libya... enter Libya.
It's amazing that "world's best democracies" didn't bother to do the only democratic thing here - to ask Libyans themselves what they want. This declaration is a shining example of NATO making decisions on behalf of Libyans.
You are right, Libya is also not about oil, but methinks it is more than just banking:
Other things worth looting: 1. Libyan water from GMMR is approx. 30cents/quart. Supply is 200 years' worth of Nile discharge.
2. Libya has huge sovereign wealth. 144 tons of gold is petty cash (approx $1 trillion vs. $6B in gold). They were shrewd investors in Europe and elsewhere
3. Europe owes Libya approx. $200B and can not pay.
4. IMF chokes whole Africa with $25B of cash. (Africa owes only $400B, less than Greece) Daffy plans to put IMF out of business in Africa.
Unlike Mubarak, Daffy and sons own nothing, it is all state property. Who controls state, controls it sovereign wealth. I'd put a price tag on it at $5T
Why doesn’t French Foreign Legionaries land and march on Tripoli—with the rebels and turn back the Libyan forces? The capital could be taken—Gadaffi will flee and that will be that. Where is the French Navy? Where is the British? Could they not take the capital? This should be an easy fight-—
This could be an easy way in, with no way out. Like Mogadishi.
"Dictator" Daffy has distributed weapons to citizens.
Legion Etrangere would end like Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid in Bolivia.
Thanks. Between you and Ellen Brown, that just about nails it.
THAT basically sums it up.
