After reading Donald Trump's logic about why he thinks Barack Obama's presidency may be "the greatest scam in the country's history," we spent much of yesterday getting up to speed on the issue.
Until yesterday, we actually hadn't looked at the birther question in detail, because we assumed it was just ludicrous conspiracy theory cooked up by folks who are desperate to do anything to have Barack Obama un-elected.

do we really KNOW that Sarah Palin was born in this country? Or Donald Trump? Or Mitt Romney?
A few weeks ago, Donald Trump made a big show of getting his birth certificate to prove that he, unlike Barack Obama, was born here.
Well, how do we KNOW this whole thing--the WHOLE TRUMP CANDIDACY THING--wasn't just trumped up as a way for Trump to cleverly reinforce his fake citizenship?
We don't KNOW that, do we?
And how do we know that Sarah Palin was really born here? How do we know that Sarah Palin is really Sarah Palin and not just another woman by that name? How do we know, for example that Sarah Palin's real name isn't Aliya Naim?
Oh, sure, Sarah Palin can probably produce documents to "prove" that she's actually named Sarah Palin and was actually born here. But as Candidate Trump teaches us, how can we really be sure?
And how about Mitt Romney?
Mitt Romney certainly looks and sounds American, doesn't he? But how do we know that his accent and his all-American (white) good looks aren't all just an amazingly clever cover-up orchestrated by his parents half a century ago. As Trump points out, LOTS of people wanted to be American citizens in those days, including, perhaps, the Romneys. (Maybe they adopted him. Or stole him. Maybe their names were actually the "Husseins"!)

I find this sort of defense of Obama sort of unreal.
The United States government assumes you are NOT a citizen until you prove it.
You doubt me? Try to get a passport without some proof?
Others have already made extensive list of things you can not do with out providing proof of who you are. It is strange that the only two things the left do not want proof of is when you go vote or evidently now, when you run for office.
I can not rent a car, buy certain OTC medicines, buy a adult beverage, or thousands of other things without some sort of document to show I am allowed to (meet age requirement mainly).
I am of two minds over Obama’s reluctance to produce his birth certificate, either he can not, or that there is something on it he does not want the world to see.
Where is “Deepthroat” now when we need him?

She can produce those documents which is something zer0 either cannot or will not do, and she could provide DNA evidence of her parentage. 0 is not about to do any of these things as apparently his entire life and pedigree has to remain a secret.

How do you or anyone counter the following arguments made by those who defend Obama ( e.g. MSNBC ) :
- The certificate of live birth IS the official (long form) birth certificate Hawaii. There’s no difference.
- The State of Hawaii does not publish the original copy of ANYONE’s birth certificate (only a digital copy). This is true of EVERYONE who was born there, including President Obama.
- Hawaiian state officials & 3rd-party organizations verified & re-verified the ACTUAL copy of the birth certificate - and the Republican Governor of Hawaii in 2008 reconfirmed the birth.
- President Obama is the most researched & verified president in the history of the United States:

BTW, can anyone verify this claim ( I can’t as I am not Alaskan ).
A liberal told me that his children were born in Alaska and their only birth certificates look a lot like the one Obama released. They include the same information, nothing more nothing less.
If so, then there really is NO LONG FORM Birth Certificate in both Alaska and Hawaii ( where else ? ).

Only if Sarah Palin is running for President. She has not declared, so what’s the point of looking at Sarah Palin when right now, we have a man sitting on the White House who is most probably constitutionally ineligible?
Sarah Palin at this point in time is UNDER NO OBLIGATION to show her birth certificate. Obama HAS THAT OBLIGATION.
Actually, that's not entirely true. That's a big part of the problem. If Palin runs, or whoever the nominee is, a signature from Reince Priebus on a certificate that says, "Our candidate meets all the qualification requirements," will be all that is legally required.

We need to get our state legislators on this. State election officials should have laws (actual laws, written by legislators, not court decisions from activist judges) which require actual documentation to prove qualifications before a name can be placed on the ballot.
The problem is that there is no law which requires documentation. A signature from Nancy Pelosi on a "certificate" stating that BHO met all qualification requirements is all that has ever been required. Yes, the constitution requires a natural born citizen. But the constitution does not have a requirement for proof. Having the chair of a major political party vouch for you and say, "Yep, he's eligible and he's our guy" has always been good enough.
The problem is that to prevail, the "birthers" will have to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that Barak Hussein Obama is not a "natural born citizen" as required in the constitution. There is no statutory requirement for anything more than Pelosi (as party chair) vouching for his citizenship, age and qualification for office. Once that is done, the burden of proof (strong, unequivocal proof) is on the challengers. They won't win in court, and they shouldn't. I don't want a new "law" written by activist judges.
