Isn’t an advance part of a contract? Would it not be a breach of contract for one not to produce a manuscript after one has accepted the advance?
yeah, duh. Now, if it’s a little advance, the publisher would probably not find it worth it to chase down $10,000 or so. But $125,000??? Not in my world.
