When I taught High School, Desmond Doss was an example I used regularly to show that one could be a citizen who served his country and still stand for your individual concience. I don’t want to serve because I don’t want to shoot anyone is not a valid excuse for anyone. Every citizen should serve their country in some way. Morality, ain’t it a hoot. ( BTW think of how bad the ribbing he had to endure in basic in the 40’s must have been.... )
