Sorry but Boehner lied. He promised $100 billion in cuts. This deal was only $38.5 billion. Not even half of the original promise. The PP, EPA, and NPR will still be funded. Don’t forget that prior to negotiations with the dems he was going to start at $32 billion in cuts. If it wasn’t for the tea party, he wouldn’t had raised it to $61 billion.

A victory for our children? I don’t think so.

You can't see the forest for the trees...broaden your view...besides, what the media isn't reporting is this:

All military personnel were issued checks or vouchers dated from April 1- April 8th and told that would be the last check they received if Congress did not pass a bill to extend the budget. Most other Federal employees didn't receive these checks/vouchers, just the military.

Congressional offices were overwhelmed with calls, emails and face to face confrontations from military personnel and families pleading with the Republican Leaders to cut a deal.. So Boehner took as much as he could get and made a deal, not because thats what he or the others wanted, but he, nor our party, wanted to stop the military from receiving their pay.. That was the deciding factor. Now where is this being played out in the media??

These thugs are blackmailing our military to get their budgets passed....

1.5 trillion deficit and we cut only 70 some billion? A victory?

That's if you are using Obama's proposed 2011 budget, a budget that failed to pass all of last year, as a baseline to define spending cuts.

I think it is more accurate to use the 2010 budget as baseline, which means, spending went up and deficit spending went up.

That's the so-called "victory".

"So pleas'd at first, the towring Alps we try, Mount o'er the Vales, and seem to tread the Sky; Th' Eternal Snows appear already past, And the first Clouds and Mountains seem the last: But those attain'd, we tremble to survey The growing Labours of the lengthen'd Way, Th' increasing Prospect tires our wandering Eyes, Hills peep o'er Hills, and Alps on Alps arise!"

All those juveniles who think this battle was a one time, win or lose, all or nothing deal, please sit down and shut up. Your ignorance is growing tedious.

"1.5 trillion deficit and we cut only 70 some billion?"

I was ticked off at first, too - but as I read many different analyses I think maybe this frames the debate for future, and much larger battles.

The libtard media is in bed with the demoncrats, so no matter what the reality is, WE would have been the reason for Gov. "shutdown".

We originaly proposed 31 billion in cuts, the Dems said no - the Tea Party Congressmen/women wanted 61 billion, so we got 38 - better than the 31 Dingy Harry said was a non-starter.

Not a big victory for "us", but I think this sets the stage, with our eyes on 2012, for much grander victories.

Bachman in 2012!!

"I dont understand all the hatred being spewed by some Freepers about this deal."

They want it all, right now.
I understand the frustration, but a marginal tactical victory may set the stage for a huge strategic victory - now is not the time for a "Charge of the Light Brigade".

This is like watching a football team, the donkeys, drive the ball down to the opponents 1 yard line. Then on first and goal the defense, the dumbos, finally wakes up and stops the other team for a one yard loss. Then they all jump around like they just won the super bowl.

Bottom line - Boehner didn’t get more cuts because he didn’t want more cuts. He’s just another statist. He got the bare minimum he thought he could sell to his base, and from most of the comments around here, he calculated correctly.

I think they should have called Obama’s bluff to not pay the military if the govt was shutdown. Imagine boots on the ground and in the air in three warring countries facing possible death at anytime not getting paid...If Obama did not pay active military he should have been impeached immediately for treason.

Sorry but BHOzo snookered the GOP.
They had the chance to call him all in and they not only blinked they thanked him for it....If the military is non-essential so is the Secret Service and those who protect this a$$ clown.

Red white and blue might not run but GOP sure does....

I can understand the frustration as well. But like you, I see this as a solid victory, but the war is still being fought.

And again, we just secured over 38 billion in spending cuts that include moves to defund Obamacare and Planned Parenthood.
Add that to the 10 billion in cuts the GOP already obtained earlier this year, that means since this new congress took office in Jan, we have cut close to 50 billion in spending, and these are cuts that will have multi-year impact.
I call that solid results and very pleased so far.

I guess if you look at the crowd thats why...remember Jimmy Carter let the mentally ill out on the streets now we have BHOzo..maybe that was part of Carters plan so he wouldnt always be Americas worst President.

Don’t you realize there were no cuts? It was cuts from the Obama Budget last year that never got voted on. Jeez. None of the cuts were from spending that was ever authorized in the first place. Good Grief.
