In-n-Out does have real fruit in their shakes, but they are more traditional hamburgers.

You are likely just restaurant class and care more about what is on your burger than the burger itself.

There are some restaurants that have really good burgers, these tend to be the ones that use 100% sirloin and grind their own patties. Red Robin has these, so many these are the ones you are eating.

The best burger I had in my entire life was one that was prepared on a farm where the cow was slaughtered within 3 hrs of me eating it. It didn’t need any toppings, no spices, the meat was indescribable.

OOPS, ought not to comment in the middle of the night. I have one and only one husband, same one I married right out of college.

Agreed. Chick-fil-A is every bit as well-run and consistent as In-N-Out.

Best burger I ever ate came out of my kitchen this afternoon.
The recipe came from the latest issue of Cook’s Illustrated and the beef came from the pasture of a local farmer. We purchased a quarter last Fall.

I did some design work for Truett Cathey years ago. He is a wonderful gentleman.

Awesome,

I am not a big club kind of person, but I would love it if someone would start a club for people to buy a portion of beef and everyone goes out to the farm to eat it freshly slaughtered.

I noticed that the laws can get you into trouble, I guess you can’t sell beef to others that isn’t slaughtered by a state licensed slaughterhouse. At least that is what I heard.

You just can’t get a better tasting meal.

Our steer was divided among 3 buyers, one bought a whole side and 2 of us bought quarters.
The steer was pasture raised, no hormones or antibiotics. The farmer delivered the meat frozen from the processor. It has all been very lean, tender and flavorful. I would not hesitate to buy from him again.
Now if I could just find a pork supplier.

Pork is easier, you can buy that right off craigs list or other sites.

I have a hankering for fresh slaughter though, don’t want anything frozen, I need to be there when the creature is killed.

When I was living in Hong Kong before the bird flu, you could go down and pick out a chicken and they would kill it and cook it for you right there. Did the same thing in Mexico.

That sounds gross, but it is some of the safest and best quality chickens you can eat. When the animal is alive, you can see if it has a disease or how healthy it is.

In many cultures, they believe you take in the health or the lack of health into your body. So an animal that isn’t healthy will in turn make you unhealthy.

Taste is fantastic too. This summer I am getting some chickens for food security.

Why is it hard? You just have to make the turn on the street leading to Tommy’s. There’s also a back way if you miss the turn. BTW, my wife used to manage a store in the same location where the outdoor furniture is now.

Yes, I go to The Hat near there, and been to the one in Brea many times.

Never been in one but the bumper stickers from In N Out Burger were all over after they had been modified to say In N Out Urge.

If you are in Winston-Salem, you go to Mountain Fried Chicken for their chicken. I miss it terribly.

A friend tells me his wife always knows when he’s been to Brown’s Diner — she can smell it on his clothes!

I sometimes wake in the middle of the night thinking about Puckett’s egg biscuits in Leiper’s Fork. I see now, they’re building a small empire: http://www.puckettsgrocery.com/home.php?pg=history Good!

Amazing, I just got back from Southern Calif visiting family for the last two weeks and there was LA tv talking about Five Guys coming to CA and challenging In and Out.

Both are good.

Can’t believe this came up while I was gone and saw the same on TV.

"True, it is the calories you pack on because of all the oil socked into a corn tortilla."

Actually, not even that. It turns out that nutrition science, like global warming, has been hijacked by social and political forces, and much of what we've all been told is wrong.

Eating fat will not cause heart disease, nor will the calories. The carbohydrates in the tortilla will, but they aren't excessive in a single corn tortilla. A Jack In The Box taco is one of the healthiest things on their menu.

See: What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie for starters.

We have 5 Guys here...sadly no In and Out but I still prefer In and Out by far. It rocks!

We might have to look into an In and Out franchise if they’re expanding. Seriously.

Sorry... In and Out is a family owned business... no franchises.

Gram wise, Oil is one of the most calorie rich foods you can eat, that is why you can reduce the calories in chicken by baking it instead of frying it.

Bake vs Fry, look it up, not talking about anything but calories, if you bring up things I don’t post, I will not reply.
