It might have been someone’s (human) pet, but it was just that ... a pet. An animal susceptible to all the intrigues of animal instinct.

Cats are domestic, coyotes are not. There's world of difference.

Coyotes are native species, cats are not. Hope they eat everyone they catch and everyone some careless individual turn out side.

No, there is no difference. An animal is an animal, be it domesticated or wild. Your emotions might want to argue with me, but, the thought is the thought.

HA! Tell that to the next Non-Domestic sparrow your cat brings home in its mouth, plays with until it kills it, then eats.

Predators are predators. The natural diet of cats are rodents and birds. NOT Special Kitty and Meow Mix...

IMHO... ;-)

-——Cats are domestic,-——

I had an identical situation in my yard. I had to literally pry a chipmunk from the mouth of a very angry neighbors cat .

Cats are wild predators who choose to live in the company of Humans

My Brother lost two of his farm/barn cats to one large owl over a two week period!
That’s part of the Circle of Life!
By the way there maybe domesticated cats but FERAL cats are not in that group.
Also free roaming cats are considered “FERAL”, where I live.
