I already wrote the surprisingly strong showing by Trump! post yesterday vis-a-vis New Hampshire so Im not sure whats left to say about this. Its a national poll this time but the key elements are all the same. He does especially well among tea partiers, which may be due to his Birtherism, his name recognition, and/or his Beltway outsider status. And he leads everyone except Romney, which is as strong a signal as the base can send that theyre not real thrilled with their choices thus far.
According to the latest national NBC/WSJ poll, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads the hypothetical 2012 GOP pack with support from 21 percent of Republican primary voters followed by Trump and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 17 percent each, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 11 percent and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at 10 percent
Strikingly, Trump who has received a considerable amount of attention for incorrectly stating that President Obama wasnt born in the U.S. finishes first among Tea Party supporters (at 20 percent), followed by Romney (17 percent), Huckabee (14 percent), Palin (12 percent) and Gingrich (9 percent).
When the field is whittled down to five Republicans Bachmann, Barbour, Gingrich, Pawlenty and Romney Romney leads with 40 percent, Gingrich comes in second with 20 percent and Pawlenty is third with 12 percent.

Trump could be a winner.
There’s a part of me, albeit a small part, that would absolutely LOVE to see Trump get the nomination. Trump would have Zero in the fetal position, sucking his thumb, at the debates.
Its about the economy stupid democrats!
How can it be an incorrect statement when it's never been proven that he has?
He loves hillarycare and Hillary.
I think his running is a sham. It is either to split the republicans for romney or to run third party for the DNC.
Attn. Republipussys. It is OK to ask to see Obamas credentials.
As long as the GOP is running RINO’s you might be right.
Hell, more than a RINO Trump is a democrat.
Even better!
Propaganda for Vampire-Care for Romneycrats.
Trump has NOT said that he was not born in this country. What he said was that he hasn’t proven it. This is a TRUE statement. But, I don’t think that today’s average journalist understands this nuance.
The MSM can’t taunt Trump on this and hoot him down.
He’s too overbearing.
Trump is gonna keep asking the question.
This is serious fun.
Maybe we are so starved for leadership with cajones is why The Donald is a rising Trumpstar with TPers.
And they sure do not understand “Natural Born Citizenship” and an absolutely void record along the way...idiot writer~
NO!!!! Romney!
No more RINOS!!
No more PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS!!!
We need someone OUTSIDE THE BOX!!
The Donald for the Oval Office!!!
Only if he continues to push the BC issue all the way. This is the main reason that he is in the limelight.
Any PUB candidates better be aware that the BC issue has not died at all, but is alive and well. They better not try to slough it off like so many already have.
“...for incorrectly stating that President Obama wasnt born in the U.S.”
That comment is part of the MSM template-it is always in the text when the issue is mentioned. It’s just one of MSM’s attempts to brainwash the public into accepting Obuma’s citzenship as fact. But, I don’t.
Same here. He’s a faux candidate that will get corporate welfare from Bammy once his work of splitting the vote is done.
Should "the Donald" be the nominee, the Obama team would just have to go to old newspapers, especially The New York Post, and paste the front pages across the USA and Trump would be done for. And that's just as to what is known about Trump; GOD only knows what skeletons are hiding in his numerous closets.
And don't forget that he has praised, to the rooftops, Hillary, Rahm, and Schumer. He also has trashed Bush 43. He and Barry have, more often than not, been on the same page and Obama would be prepped with all of those facts.
For the Dems.
