WASHINGTON (AFP) – Using unusually blunt language, FBI Director Robert Mueller told US legislators on Capitol Hill Wednesday that there is an "unprecedented" level of violence in Mexico linked to the country's drug wars.
"I would not call it a full-scale war," Mueller told members of the House of Representatives as he discussed his agency's 2012 budget.
"I would say there are full-scale warring factions that utilize homicide as a mechanism of retaliation, staking out one's turf, retribution, that have contributed substantially to the number of deaths in Mexico," Mueller said.
There have been some 35,000 homicides in the past four years, Mueller said.
"I think it's fair to say that it's unprecedented," he said. "The last couple of years, I think, have been particularly bad."
The frank words are uncommon for a senior US official: the US ambassador to Mexico resigned in March after Mexican President Felipe Calderon said diplomatic cables written by the envoy -- in which he depicted the Mexican military leadership as unprepared for the war on drugs -- damaged bilateral ties.
And Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in September had to back off of comments that the Mexican drug cartels "are showing more and more indices of insurgencies," and that the country is "looking more and more like Colombia looked 20 years ago, when the narcotraffickers controlled certain parts of the country."
Even though the Mexican military and police "have undertaken substantial efforts" to address the violence, "it's certainly not under control at this point," Mueller said.

Most people also don’t realize that most all of the killing there and in certain other latin american countries is directly related to various Satanic, Ritualistic types of Cult Gangs who do not kill for money all the time but rather to gain power with Satan (according to their beliefs) and respect/worship/fear from others. Also most of these Satanic gang members are street thugs by the time they are 11 or 12, they grow out of their Satanism by the time they are 30 unlike Muslims or Marxists, that is if they live to see 30. My sis has been smoking marijuana regularly since age 14; she is now 56 years old and on disability because of a “personality disorder”, for crazy shit like attacking people. She has holes in her brain where there is no neural activity.
Damn shame. She used to be a nice person until she bought into the lies about marijuana being harmless.
Be careful that you’re not mistaking association with causality. Two things might be associated, but it doesn’t necessarily follow that one caused the other. I’m sorry to hear about your sister, but you cannot say that her behavior would not have happened but for her drug use. In other words, her drug use may be a result of the personality disorder and not the other way around.
But more to the point, adults have the right to make stupid decisions. While there should be, and already are, laws to prevent a 14-year old from getting intoxicants, adults should be allowed the freedom to screw up their own lives as they see fit. Sure, it’s hard on their loved ones; but, I’m not interested in sacrificing my freedoms to protect other people from themselves.

My sister was an addict. The idea that marijuana is not addictive is a crock.
The reason some drugs are illegal is because they are addictive and rob us of the ability to make sound decisions.
If that is your idea of freedom, I would hate to see you make a logical decision.
