Be careful that you’re not mistaking association with causality. Two things might be associated, but it doesn’t necessarily follow that one caused the other. I’m sorry to hear about your sister, but you cannot say that her behavior would not have happened but for her drug use. In other words, her drug use may be a result of the personality disorder and not the other way around.

But more to the point, adults have the right to make stupid decisions. While there should be, and already are, laws to prevent a 14-year old from getting intoxicants, adults should be allowed the freedom to screw up their own lives as they see fit. Sure, it’s hard on their loved ones; but, I’m not interested in sacrificing my freedoms to protect other people from themselves.

My sister was an addict. The idea that marijuana is not addictive is a crock.

The reason some drugs are illegal is because they are addictive and rob us of the ability to make sound decisions.

If that is your idea of freedom, I would hate to see you make a logical decision.
